My English Experience – Week 3 – LONDON

Continued from My English Experience – Week 2

So now we have traveled from London to Stonehenge to  Devon to Binbrook and now to Northampton and on to our final destination in London.

Up early, load the car and off to Northampton we go. Once in Northampton we popped over to see my hubby’s Nan and then we meet up with loads of family for a big dinner with

everyone. Aunties and Uncles galore! What a great time we all had at dinner. It was fabulous getting to meet everyone in person that I had only known from Christmas cards and facebook. After dinner we all made our way back to Tina’s house for some rest and relaxation because we were up early again the next morning to make our way to London via the train.

Day 1 in London  – from the train to the hotel via taxi and then it was off we go. We walked across the Tower Bridge and then down the other side of the river to The London Dungeon. It was a bit confusing as there were 2 different lines going into the dungeons but we hopped into one and then waited for like 3 hours. It was well worth the wait. Once we were inside it took at least an hour or more to go through the entire thing and there

were 3 rides inside as well. One room in the Dungeon was set up as a courtroom and I was pointed out in the group and told to stand on the podium… oh dear .. I was then accused of witchcraft… dancing naked in the woods to pagan rituals and such .. they asked me if I denied these accusations and I had to say no .. LOL. In the next room it was set up as a torture chamber and my husband was then brought up to sit in the spotlight while the actor made fun and began his torture… LOL…. it was well worth that 3 hour wait just to watch that!

After the Dungeon we were all starving and set off to find some dinner.

We found a nice little Indian restaurant and filled our tummies. For Christmas my hubby had bought us all  tickets for a Ghost Tour so it was now time to make our way over to the double decker bus that was going to take us on the tour. This wasn’t your ordinary red double decker bus that you see all over London.. this was a black double decker bus, LOL. Set up with mood lighting and actors we had a great time and learned a lot about the hauntings of London. That concluded the end of our first night and so off to bed we went.

Day 2 in London – Up early with lots to see and do. We were on and off the Underground railway all day, minding the gap as always. First we made our way over to

The London Eye. The Eye moves so slow that you can barely tell it’s moving when you are on it. What a view! I’d love to ride it again in the evening when the lights of London are all on.

After the Eye we all made our way over to Harrods. Being just 2 days after Christmas and the big sale going on.. Harrods was ram packed with people. It was nearly impossible to see anything and to truly appreciate the Harrods experience. We purchased a few sweets and out the door we went in search of lunch. We found a nice steak restaurant but when the steaks came … you

had to cook them yourself at the table on a hot stone. LOL. Definitely an experience my hubby won’t forget.

After lunch we made our way over to Covent Gardens. I love this place! It was a huge market that was a mix with actual indoor shops and an open air market. There were lots of artisans selling their wares and street performers throughout the market …. my mind was on creative overload. We purchased some really nice london artwork and a few other bits and pieces before we made our way out of

the market and on to our next adventure. Our nephew Ben had particular streets he wanted to visit and a shop called Superdry. So we walked and walked and walked in the rain looking for these streets and that shop. We got super wet looking for a store called Superdry… how insane in that! I have no idea how long and how far we walked but it seemed like ages, we found the store at last and once he had a good look around the shop … we made our way back to the hotel for rest and to dry off.

Day 3 & 4 in London – Today it’s just me and my hubby left alone to

explore the rest of London. We walked for hours traveling all over to see as much of London as two people possibly could. We took another trip to Covent Gardens, we went to Buckingham Palace and by Downing Street, we walked past Big Ben and Westminster Abby. We went to

Camden Town to explore Camden Market and we went to China Town and the ever famous Soho. China Town smelled amazing with all the restaurants down every street, too bad we had already eaten at Leicester Square. We stopped in at several pubs through these two days. It was the best way to rest your feet and have a nice drink before heading back out into the drizzle that never stopped falling in London. I think my favorite pub was the

Sherlock Holmes Pub. It’s a really small quaint pub that felt very homey and comfortable.

New Years Eve in London – After a day of walking in the cold and rain we weren’t real sure we wanted to walk down to where the fireworks could be seen, but it’s not all the time you are in London on New Years Eve so why not.  We were just 2 miles

from the fireworks so we bundled up and headed out for a walk along the river. It wasn’t so bad at first but the closer we got the more crowded it became. I don’t think I have ever seen so many people in one place my entire life. Once we got there, we had an hour to wait before the fireworks started. It was very close quarters for everyone. There were people as far as you could see in any direction. Suddenly it was midnight and Big Ben started to ring and the fireworks blasted into the air. What a show! A memory that I will not forget ever

and I got to share this moment with my love, my dear husband Richard.  The streets were so crowded that it took us an hour to walk the 2 miles back to our hotel.

Well that’s my English experience coming to an end. I hope you enjoyed … I know I did! I can’t wait to go back again.

Many Blessings and Happy New Year!

My English Experience – Week 2

Continued from My English Experience – Week 1

OK so now we are on our way up to Binbrook where some of our family live. We will be staying the week with them and celebrating Christmas together. To the left is the view from Mum’s house.

On our way there we stop off at Stratford Upon Avon, the home of William Shakespeare. This is a lovely, old world type town with lots of quaint shops and at the

moment a street market was going on. I bought a few extra gifts and dared myself to try something new. I bought a sausage roll type pastry that was filled with rabbit, partridge, pork, venison & pheasant. I thought that it might taste a bit gamey … but it didn’t .. it was really good and I’d

definitely have another!

So we continued our journey north and finally arrived in the early evening. Worn out from the busy week… I remember stopping in to visit my sister in law and all the kids for a while and then we all ordered take out from the local chinese place and called it a night.

Day 2 up north we traveled to the city of Lincoln and took a tour through the Lincoln Cathedral. Wow! The cathedral was massive and absolutely beautiful. Stained glass windows that stretched toward the sky towered over us as we made our way through the cathedral. This building was constructed in 1092 … ummm that’s over 900 years old!!! Amazing.. absolutely amazing!

After our cathedral tour we ventured down the steep hill of Lincoln to do a little shopping. OMG.. that hill is as steep as I have ever seen! Once you get to the bottom.. the terrible part is.. you have to go back up! The shops were awesome… I found a great little rock shop where I purchased a few crystals for myself and something for my hubby. We stopped for some lunch and a cuppa at the bottom before making our way back up that hill. Thank goodness! I needed the rest..lol. After that it was back home to plan the following day.

Day 3 up north, we gathered all the kids up and headed to a place called Hull. We had to drive over the Humber bridge  to get there and this bridge is something I have never experienced before and dare say I don’t mind missing it. This bridge actually sways in the wind as you drive over it and the guard rails around it are tiny. I was glad

to be over it but knew that it wouldn’t be the last time because we did have to get back home afterwards. In Hull we visited  The Deep, an aquarium and it was great fun with all the kids.  There really wasn’t anything else in downtown Hull that was worth seeing so back home we went to plan out our next adventure.

Day 4 up north, we ventured off to York where we found loads and loads of lovely shops on cobblestone streets. I LOVE THIS PLACE! We found lots of gifts and had some lunch at Bella Italiano. The tiny cobblestone streets lined on either side with shop after shop was heavenly. It was a step back in time and I can imagine back in the day all the english folk dressed in their garb of the time walking up and down these streets daily doing their shopping and visiting. I would visit York again and again.. a definite must see!

Day 5 up north was Christmas day. Up early to open pressies that Santa had dropped off, then some proper english breakfast and then we nipped around the corner to see the kids and deliver more pressies. I had come down with a nasty head cold so I found myself a nice warm bed and took a nap before dinner while everyone else walked down to the village pub for a pint or two. Christmas dinner was very different than what I’m use to in the states.  It was lovely and lots of fun. Christmas crackers were popped open, paper crowns were worn on every head and wine was dispensed all around and around and around and…. around!

Day 6 up north was our last. It was an easy day for us that day. Our only down day where we weren’t running here and there. We had a nice meal at The Click’em Pub down the road and had an early night for our travels the next day to Northampton.

My English Experience – week 1

So now that our holiday in England  is over with I’d like to share with you all my experiences along the way. (WARNING: this post may be long)

When we first arrived at the Gatwick airport we were greeted by a magpie in the parking garage (unfortunately I didn’t get a photo) just near the car. I knew then that this was going to be a great trip! Mum right away said hello to the Magpie and said “we always say hello when we see a magpie.”

Here’s a bit of English superstition as to why she does this: One should make sure to greet magpies when they are encountered in order to either allay bad luck or encourage good luck, as related to the number of birds and therefore their place in the Magpie poem. Common greetings include “Hello Mr Magpie” “How is your wife/where is your wife?”, “Good Morning/Evening Sir” and other marks of respect.

And there is the rhyme that comes along wit the Magpie :
One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a secret never to be told.

And this was before we even got in the car!

Our first destination was Stonehenge, we were just an hour and half away… so this was our first stop. From the car it appeared much smaller than I had imagined but when walking up to it … it was much larger. One of the stones facing the pathway that leads you up to it had a face on it … THIS I shall never forget!

There were ravens all over the place and well you know me …  that was my sign that I was were I belonged. We walked around the entire thing taking photos at every angle and then made our way back to the car park. Goodbye Stonehenge, thanks for the experience. As we left Stonehenge and began making our way to Devon…. a rainbow appeared. More verification that this trip will be wonderful.

Our next stop…. Devon. We have rented a cottage for the week with Mum, Dad, Tina, Gary and Ben and can’t wait to get there. It has been a long journey for my hubby and me… at this point we have been traveling over 24 hours straight and can’t wait to be out of the car.

Devon is located south west in England and is now one of my very favorite places to visit. The cottage was lovely. The building use to be an old threshing barn and is over 600 years old. The street taking you to the  cottage was build by the Prince of Orange over 1,000 years ago. The cottage was quaint and warm and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We stayed in the Devon area for 5 days, each day venturing out somewhere new to explore.  On our first day we walked down to the seaside, where suddenly I didn’t feel so well. Lucky for me the fellow that keeps the cottage showed up at the cafe where we had stopped for tea and offered to take me back. Thank goodness that only lasted for the day.. I was up and much better by morning and ready for our next adventure.

Day 2 in Devon lead us to several places. We traveled first to a village called Cockington. It was a lovely old world type village with small narrow streets, thatched roof buildings and artisan shops. We walked all over the area taking photos of everything including a funny squirrel near the car park.

Our next stop on day 2 was the seaside at Paignton. It was a beautiful sunny day .. but being December not many were out at the seaside. We took a walk along the pier and played a few games in the arcade and then grabbed a bit to eat at the cafe there. After our tea we walked along the beach in search of sea glass (my idea). I had everyone looking!

Our final stop on day 2 was  another seaside village called Brixham. This is a port filled with boats of all sizes. Seagulls soared above as we explored the area. Brixham was filled with lots of great shops that I think we visited each and every one! When we arrived we were greeted by a fantastic rainbow! I would definitely visit Brixham again!

Back to the cottage for some dinner and relaxation.. oh and lets not forget another quiz by Ben.

Ben, our nephew, would create a quiz each night for all of us to do… it was lots of fun and lots of cheating took place…lol

Day 3 in Devon we traveled to Cardiff, Wales to meet up with Auntie Lynda and Uncle Tim.  We all met at St. Fagans, the Museum of Wales History. This place was no ordinary museum, this place was massive! St. Fagans is an open air museum on 100 acres in Cardiff. The have taken various buildings from all over Wales and from different decades/centuries and moved them to the location at St. Fagans. I would definitely visit St. Fangans again and again. We spent the entire day there and still didn’t see everything.  It was great meeting Lynda and Tim for the first time and I look forward to hanging out with them again.

toby carveryAfter leaving St. Fagans we stopped off at a Toby Carvery for dinner. This is where I had my first taste of yorkshire pudding. The carvery experience was great and very filling … I couldn’t have eaten another bite!

Day 4 in Devon we traveled to Cornwall to visit The Eden Project. The Eden Project is a massive working and learning center geared around sustainable living. There are 2 giant bio-domes filled with plants and trees from all over the world. Our visit was in December so the garden grounds outside the domes weren’t in bloom.. I can only imagine what it would look like when everything was in full bloom. It took us all day to tour the grounds and I’m sure we missed a few things. There were lots of workshops for children and adults both to take part in. For families with children…. it’s definitely worth seeing.

Well that’s the end of week one in the UK. The next day we checked out of our cottage and headed for Binbrook in the North.

Christmas Time in the UK

9207_10200165863766760_501820899_nChristmas time in the UK can be described simply with just one word.

Family

It’s a time when loved ones gather round for a nice cup of brew, hours are spent discussing where to eat, games and quizzes are played and fond memories are clearly made. Laughter fills every room and traditions are carried out just as they have been passed down for decades and even centuries.

When family gather round… it is never a dull moment. The words exchanged make me giggle every few minutes. If only I could give you a transcript of the conversations I’ve heard and even been a part of over the past few days … you would understand.  The best part of it is that it’s all done with love and care for one another.

My wish for everyone this year is that you find the time to spend with the ones you love. Cherish these moments for they will pass as they always do. Make happy memories to carry with you through the years and keep traditions going for they are the glue that bind you throughout the years to the memories and happy times with those closest to you.

Tinsel and light
All things merry and bright

Tis that magical time of year
To spread lots of love and good cheer

Childlike hopes and dreams fill our hearts
Standing beneath the mistletoe with my sweetheart

Cookies in the oven baking with care
Lights and stockings strung everywhere!

Watching close, that mischievous elf
Wondering how on Earth he gets off the shelf!

Family and friends gathering from far and near
Waiting for Santa and his reindeer!

Wishes being sent from me to you

Tis the Season

winter berryTis the Season to be stressed to the max with to-do lists a mile long, family and friends stopping by, parties to plan, parties to attend, gifts to make, gifts to purchase, food to prepare, decorating to be done.. etc!

Don’t forget to add some “me time” to your to-do list.  Time to relax and de-stress is definitely something we should all be planning with all the chaos that happens during this festive time of year. Pour yourself a nice glass of wine, relax in a hot tub for a bit, sit in the silence of a clean room, step outside in nature.. whatever it takes to allow yourself some time to regenerate and refuel.

The holidays are no fun at all if you are too tired to enjoy them. So make sure you add “me time” to that list of yours and enjoy!

The ReBuild

IMG_6832Throughout our lives we are building. We build relationships, we build a home, we build safety, we build knowledge, we build confidence, we build routine, we build habits, etc.

When it is time for a major change to occur in one of these areas that we have spent years building .. the change can be drastic or at the very least “feel” very drastic. What has been built wasn’t constructed overnight and therefore when that change needs to happen and happen now… it is as if a wrecking ball has come from out of nowhere and knocked you right onto your bum and oh boy can it hurt!

It may feel as though what was once there is now destroyed… well duhhhh! That’s the whole point! Whatever it was that the wrecking ball tore down .. is no longer needed. Now there is room for you to rebuild with new materials, new knowledge and a new set of tools.

I won’t lie… it sure does suck whenever that wrecking ball shows up… but the rebuild will serve you so much better in the end and life will take a much brighter turn once we allow the change to happen. It’s going to happen regardless .. the more we fight it the worse it feels.

Many Blessings,

Mourning

lone leafThere are many kinds of loss, some that are obvious and others that may not be so obvious to most. With loss comes a time of mourning. No matter the size, context or extent of loss we must allow our selves that time to heal.

The obvious types of loss are associated with the death of people and pets but death can visit us in many ways.

Other not so obvious types of loss:
Death of a job – losing a job can be devastating in more ways than just financial.

Death of a job title – When we are stripped of our job titles (large or small) a piece of us
goes with that title… especially if you took pride in your job.

Loss of a friendship – It is always sad to lose a friend in any way. Someone you trusted, cared for and loved, now not a part of your life.

Loss of an aspect of self  – We grow and we change and with that change often certain aspects  of who we are at one time or another must die so that new growth can take place.

Loss of a home – This happens even when we choose to move. The place we called home .. rather it be for years or months.. this was once a safe place for us and moving on can have more of an impact than you might realize.

This list could go on and on. When something has been a part of your life for any amount of time and then it is no longer with you …. mourning may set in without your realizing that is what is going on. Allow yourself time to heal from this loss. It may seem a bit silly to mourn something such as a job title or position ….  or silly to mourn a home you only lived in for a short time.. but it happens. When we make a connection and then that connection becomes broken… then a time of healing needs to take place to fill the void and loss of that connection.

Many Blessings,

All About Dreaming

IMG_5261The most important thing to understand about dream interpretation is your own feelings about what is going on in your dream.

Others may open your mind to new possibilities but at the end of the day it only matters how you feel about your particular dream. If it feels right and rings true to your heart then that is the correct answer and interpretation for you.

Also see Working with Dreams  – Click Here

DREAM TIPS

Remembering your dreams: Keep a journal next to your bed.. write down everything you can remember even if it is only a hand full of things .. do this before you place your feet on the floor. Once you step out of bed .. your memory about the dreams go quickly.

Meditation – practice meditations before bed. Find a meditation that best fits you and practice as often as you can. The more you meditate the better you become.

When going to bed .. tell yourself many times that your goal is to remember your dreams.. when you do this often you will start remembering your dreams. It may be slow going but you will get there. Don’t give up.

Certain stones and crystals can help you dream, remember your dreams and aid you through dream healing. Moonstones are particularly good at general dream work – remembering and guiding you. Other stones also help depending on your dream needs.

FULL MOON DEFINITIONS

January: Wolf Moon

The Wolf Moon, also known as the Cold, Snow, or Winter Moon, is a time of protection and strength. While it is the first full Moon of the calendar year, in terms of nature it occurs in the middle of the cold winter season, a season of death and desolation. In these respects, the Wolf Moon can be seen as a time of both beginnings and endings. This is the time to start to consider what you want to plant and plan for the spring. You can do magick so that as the spring approaches your magickal goal will grow close and closer to fruition.

February: Storm Moon

The Storm Moon, also known as the Death or Quickening Moon, is a time to do magick for fertility and strength. For most people in the Northern Hemisphere, February is a time of storms and bleak, short days. In the olden days, it was a time of true hardship. This is a good time to do magick to help you face life’s challenges. You could do a spell to help you with a particularly challenging project at work. Your spell could focus on helping you to accept the challenge, perservere, and make it through. You could concentrate on the idea of weathering the storm and giving yourself the extra stamina to succeed. This is also a time of cleansing both internally and externally. As such, it’s a great time to get rid of physical things you don’t need and any mental or emotional baggage you might be hauling around with you, too.

March: Chaste Moon

Also known as the Seed or Worm Moon, the Chaste Moon is a time to plant mental seeds – thoughts of success and hope. This is also a time of purity and newness. It’s the time to bless the magickal herbs and plants in your garden and to start preparing the soil for the seeds that you will plant. It’s also the time to mentally prepare yourself for new experieces, a new job, pregnancy, taking a trip, or bringing a new animal into your home.

April: Seed Moon

The Seed Moon signals a time of fertility, growth, and wisdom. This Moon is also known as the Egg, Grass, or Wind Moon. This is the time to sow the seeds of Magick. If you are planting a magickal garden, you want to get out there now and put things into the Earth. This is the time to move from the planning phase into action. If you want to get pregnant, this is a great time to go for it. Fertility is in the air. This is also the time to bring that new puppy home, it that is what you have been planning. It’s also a great time to empower some seeds to both help them grow and to do Earth magick.

May: Hare Moon

The Hare Moon, also known as the Flower or Planting Moon, is a time of health, love, romance, and wisdom. This is a great time to plant the seeds that you have empowered. As the seeds begin to grow, the energy you have filled them with will start to manifest in your life. It’s also a great time to rekindle the romantic spark and passion in a relationship. If you’ve been working magick to help your career, now will probably be the time to decide which of your job offers to accept. And you might want to do some divination magick to help you make that decision.

June: Lover’s Moon

Also known as the Strawberry or Rose Moon, the Lover’s Moon brings with it energy for love, marriage, and success. Is it any wonder that in some traditions this Moon is called the Honey Moon? This is a time to nurture your garden and marvel at its beauty and abundance. If you have taken that new job, now is the time to make sure you have everything running smoothly. And you might want to keep your eyes open to see how you can move into a more desirable position.

July: Mead Moon

The Mead Moon, also known as the Blessings, Lightning, or Thunder Moon, is a time of enchantment, health, rebirth, success, and strength. This is the time of the first harvests, when you begin to enjoy the fruits of your labors. This is also a time of celebration and magick. Remember that mead is the nectar of the Gods. Now is the time to gather your magickal herbs and do some prosperity magick so you get that raise you’ve worked so hard for.

August: Wyrt Moon

The Wyrt Moon, also known as the Wort, Barley, Corn, or Red Moon, is a time of abundance, agriculture, and marriage. This is the time to collect your magickal herbs and store them for the winter or share them with others. Remember to give an offering back to the Goddess for her generosity. At this time of the year, you might want to do magick to help someone else reap the benefits of the Earth’s abundance. (With that person’s permission, of course!) This is also a good time to make a move at work for that higher level position. If you have become pregnant, this is the time to concentrate your energies on having a healthy pregnancy.

September: Harvest Moon

Also known as the Barley or Hunter’s Moon, the Harvest Moon is a time of protection, prosperity, and abundance. This is the time of year when the grains are being harvested, and it is a good time for magick involving your prosperity, abundance, and the nurturing of others. If you have had a long illness, this is the time to finally come back to full health again. This is also the time to obtain that higher paying position at work. The energy of the Harvest Moon will help along any magick that is geared to bring you or someone else abundance.

October: Blood Moon

The Blood Moon is sometimes called the Falling Leaf or Hunter’s Moon. It is a Moon of new goals, potection, resolution, and spirituality. The night of the Blood Moon is a great time for divination of any kind. At this time of the year, all of nature is making ready for the winter. Animals that hibernate are gathering the last scraps of food. Birds are heading south. In human societies, this used to be the time when we turned from agriculture to the hunt as our means of sustenance. This is the time to refect on what you did during the year and to evaluate your accomplishments. You also want to check to see how you will survive the coming months. Make sure that you have enough money in the bank. If your work is seasonal, you might want to do some magick to find other ways to support yourself. If you work outdoors, do magick to help you survive the cold months ahead. You also want to check on things that are important to your safety and survival. How are the tires on your car? And what about that smoke alarm in the kitchen? Because the holidays are fast approaching, you also might want to do some work to remove stress and negative energy from your surroundings.

Novemeber: Snow Moon

The Snow Moon is also known as the Beaver, Mourning, or Tree Moon. This is a good time to work with abundance, properity, and the bonds of family and friendship. This is also an excellent time to use divination to get an idea of what is up ahead. Remind yourself that although winter is coming, it will not last forever. Do what you can to reduce your stress and to strengthen your bonds with family and friends. Back before the advent of grocery stores and central heating, people really counted on those bonds, which could be the difference between making it through the winter or perishing. So, know who is really there for you, and count your blessings.

December: Oak Moon

Also known as the Cold or Long Night Moon, the Oak Moon is a time for hope and healing. This time of year the Moon has reign over the Earth, because there are more hours of night than day. Our thoughts turn to the rebirth of the light and the longer days that are promised after the winter solstice. Women who have become pregnant in the spring are about to give birth and will probably want to focus their energies on delivering a healthy baby. This is the time of year to complete something you have worked hard on and to make sure that the task is truly completed, all the details dealt with. It’s also a great time to let go of old patterns or problems and start anew. If something has been eating at you for a long time, work to give it up at this time. Let go of the negative and let the light of longer days shine inside you. Working with children in a nurturing way can be very rewarding and healing.

Magical Monday – Spreading Joy

fb cover 2

Some of my favorite moments in life are those that I can share my own joy with others and watch as they themselves become filled equally with joy, love and excitement. In this day and time people are quick to talk about all the pains, heartache, illness and despair that life has to offer but not so quick to share the more joyous moments in life.

I have to ask … why???

I know that there has to be a balance but the scales seem far too often tilted in the negative direction.  October had Breast Cancer Awareness… and November had Testicular Cancer Awareness… but what now?? What about December?  Are we all suppose to be too busy decorating, partying and buying gifts to raise awareness for anything? I think now…
So here’s a challenge I’d like to offer up through the month of December:

December – the month of deck the halls, falalalalalaaaaaaaa, joy to the world and have a holly jolly …..  My challenge is for everyone to share their joy each day.. I know some days it will be hard … we become overwhelmed with tasks, chores, decorating, buying, entertaining and so on …. that suddenly it is Christmas in xx days and our list is still way too long to cope.

Seek out some joy, some light, some love and some happiness… share it.. share it with as many as you can until it has spread like winter’s first sniffle. Watch as others become filled with that amazing light I like to call PURE JOY. When you see someone without a smile.. give them a reason to laugh…. when you see someone needing a hug … for goodness sake  – HUG THEM!

Share the spirit of love, light and joy through the month of December and I’m sure that you just might witness something far brighter than the Christmas Tree in Rockefeller Center!

Go on now.. get to spreading!

Wish Bottles

I have seen these floating around online now for a couple of years and decided to make a few myself this year. I love the thought and sentiment behind these little beauties.

Take a small glass bottle … add some dandelion seeds.. decorate however you like..

Here is a sample of my own.

The Power of Wishes

I just have to share this story of something that happened to me the other day.

I was at work and there were two little girls that were hanging out at the office with their dad (one of our agents). I know these two to be quite the pranksters. So I was making my rounds through the office getting ready to finish my chores for the day so I could then head home. I came around behind them, smacked a chair and shouted at them and scared them to bits… hahahahahaha. We all laughed and I went back to my office to finish up for the day. They came to my door claiming what I had done was not funny. I said it sure was funny from my side seeing their faces when I shouted. They proclaimed that they would be getting me back. So for the next several minutes they played around the outside of my office waiting for the opportunity to get me back.

Something then happened that was one of those little awesome moments that I think these two little girls might remember for years to come.

I had a plastic cup in my office that had loads of dandelions in it that I was collecting to make wish bottles for Christmas. I walked out of my office with tons of stuff in my hands and was setting some of it down so that I could free a hand up to close my office door. The cup of dandelions then flips up and spills all over me and the floor! UGGGGGGG!

I said “Oh no! My Wishes!” the two little girls came running over and asked, “What did you say?”. I said, I dropped my wishes…. your what? .. My Wishes! I dropped my wishes!

They looked closer to see what the heck I was talking about. They had forgot all about trying to scare me and were concerned about my wishes now. They pitched in and tried to save as many as they could. They asked me what I was planning on doing with them and I told them I was going to make wish bottles. They looked confused and intrigued all at the same time. They helped pick up as many as they could and then I vacuumed up the rest and made my way out to my car. I put all my stuff in the car and then walked over to the side of the building to see if I could find any more dandelions. Lucky enough I found 3. I kept one and put it in my cup to replace what was lost and the other two I took back inside and handed them to the girls and told them I had some fresh wishes just for them.   Quickly they ran outside to blow off the seeds and make their wishes. As I was walking away I looked back with a smile and said.. make sure you make those wishes count! They smiled and with excitement blew off the dandelion seeds.

Oh the joys of childhood and believing all things are possible with nothing more than a dandelion, a deep breath and a wish.

So for a moment they got to step out of the adult world of “now sit down, be quiet and behave” to come on lets BELIEVE!

November Full Moon

The November Full Moon is the Snow Moon also known as the Beaver, Mourning or Tree Moon … depending on where you are from.

The moon offers us a lot of energy and when it is full it offers that much more. Use it wisely and responsibly. Be clear in your thoughts and actions.

Shifting Your Thoughts

We all find ourselves in that negative zone from time to time. Some far more than others. Getting out of that negative space often seems like a task that is larger than life, larger than you feel like you can handle at that moment.

It’s as hard as you allow it to be. I know you hate that answer but it’s true. My words are easy to say and easy to type but I know how difficult it feels in real life. I have been in that negative space far more often than I would like to admit.

The question of the day is: How do you get out of that negative space and into a more positive one?

By shifting your thoughts from whatever it is that put you in that ugly space to begin with. Is it easy? Yes and No. It’s something that will take some serious work on your behalf. You will have to focus your thoughts and energy to something else…. something that doesn’t relate what so ever to those negative thoughts. The further from that negative monster that put you into that space.. the better!

Find something to do. Busy yourself with something that will make you feel good. Whether it is something for another or something productive for yourself or whatever… find something physical to focus your energy and thoughts on.

Take some reflection time to focus and remember all the best moments of your life. Fond memories always put a smile on my face and help me move forward.

When we find ourselves in that negative pit… we dwell on all things negative and bring a dark and dreary cloud over ourselves that does not have to be there. Focusing so much on those negative thoughts doesn’t make it go away, it doesn’t make you or anyone around you feel good, it doesn’t help or improve your life in any way at all. All it does is prolong the negative darkness that is there.

Shift your thoughts and you’ll be asking yourself why on Earth you spent any time at all in that negative space.

Many Blessings,
Raventalker

Daily Insight – The Spiritual Warrior

By the sounds of it you might envision a spiritual warrior as someone in full battle armor fighting battles of all sorts in some spiritual way or even a spiritual realm… which would be correct except that the armor isn’t a tin suit.

Spiritual armor is knowledge, love and acceptance. The tools of a spiritual warrior are the same. The realm in which they fight is within themselves.

A spiritual warrior will fight battles daily, not to save the world as a whole, but to save their own personal bit of the world in which they live which may be as small or as large and wide as they wish to reach. Now don’t take this wrong.. I’m not saying that they are focused only on themselves. Spiritual warriors walk many paths and work in many ways to help the world as a whole… but the real battles are within. Working daily to improve themselves, with hopes to reach the highest level of spirit that they can achieve in this lifetime.

A spiritual warrior knows that the more they know and the stronger they are at their own core of being, the more they are able to help others. The battle never ends… there is no finale of fireworks and certificates to be handed out. There is only the realm of living that is after this. With each realm their task is to become better than the one before. To live in harmony with oneself, with nature and the world that sustains us.

Many Blessings,

Magical Mondays – Being Yourself

Its a wonderful feeling to be free to be you. There was a time when I felt like I couldn’t be myself. I felt like I had to hide certain aspects of who I am to fit in or not to stand out too much. I’ve never been one that cared about what others thought of me… but I also never want people to think badly of me. I would hide aspects of myself around those who I thought would fear or not understand who I am.

I’m not sure when that all stopped .. I think it has been a gradual thing than something I just suddenly stopped doing. Through the years I have found that by being myself openly and honestly to everyone.. there was far less to fear by me and by others. It’s not that I am some sort of monster .. there are just parts of my way of doing things that differ from others. I see the world as a magical place filled with possibilities of even more magical moments and opportunities. I once worried about being called names like the ever so common “witch”…. but somewhere down the line I realized that those that don’t understand will always throw stones and call you names. So if someone was freaked out by my collection of crystals or my magical way of talking and seeing the world… and if they were to call me that name.. I would say thanks and then explain to them that a witch is a healer and a magical person and nothing at all that I would be ashamed of if someone wished to call me by that name.

Do I consider myself to be a witch? No, not really.. who needs labels.. I am just me. I have my way of seeing and doing .. my own way of being and I am me always. The label I give myself is Holly or Raventalker … that’s who I am … no need to add extra names to it. I am simply me. Every day .. all the time .. I am me. It feels so good to fly as you are without worry or fear of what others don’t understand.

Many Blessings,
Raventalker

Another Day of Beauty

I stepped outside for a moment to take a break from work and as I stood there with the cool autumn breeze blowing, the birds chirping in unison and the sun radiating down upon my shoulders… I felt completely at peace. Nature has a way of doing that to me. I find balance and peace every time I step out into the natural world.

I stood there for some time taking in the surroundings and just allowing nature’s rhythm to soothe my mind, body and soul.

I looked down for a moment and there was this little leaf caught in the grass, blowing in the breeze. It had already turned brown… it’s colors had all faded away.  It was decaying right before my eyes. Every moment, precious … it would only be with us for a matter of days now. I looked closely at this little brown leaf and I’ll tell you what I saw:

I saw every vein as a story once lived by this little leaf. My mind wandered at the things that it might have seen, the experiences it might have felt and the lifetime that it lived. Those veins once filled with nurturing juices of life, now barren. This made me think about how precious life is and how quickly one can go from a life where we are being sustained and nurtured to a place where we become part of what sustains other life so that it may grow… live and experience.

Daily Insight – PREGNANCY

Daughter of Earth – Creativity – Pregnancy – Female Powers – Beauty – Talents

You Are PREGNANT!!! YES.. I said PREGNANT! Nope … it’s not a mistake.. let me explain:

Just as a baby incubates inside us women for 9 months, growing and developing… so are many other things growing and developing inside us: talents, skills, powers, etc.

It is time now to give birth to a new you and a new phase in your life. This new phase may be spiritual, physical or emotional. Whichever it may be.. give your self time and try your best to maintain patience with yourself and the process. Just as babies come on their own time… so will this new phase. Don’t rush it into being. Allow the natural flow of life to guide you and this new phase will develop beautifully and with great ease.

Don’t be afraid of the changes within you. The transformation that is already happening will be beautiful and fulfilling. Embrace the changes and absorb the magic.

Many Blessings,
Raventalker

Oh and ENJOY this new way of being!

Winter Dreams

Magical wonders beneath a star lit sky
With a twinkle, winter dreams begin to fill our eyes

Cozy nights, snuggled by the fire
Spending quality time with those you admire

The snow begins to fall and a hush is  whispered through the air
The land is resting for the winter just like a bear

The days now shorter and the weather  quite cold
Even as she sleeps, the Earth’s beauty is surly a sight to behold

Watching through the window, winter birds coming around for a treat
You’ll find me with a hot cup of tea, snuggled up in my favorite seat

It’s a time of reflection and a time to rest
Please do come in and have a seat, be my guest

We’ll sit and chat about the days gone by and the days to come
We’ll be calmed by the fire’s magical crackle and hum

Once we’ve had our tea and said our farewell
We’ll make a wish to the winter fairies with a quick ring of the bell

One for luck
Two for good health
Three for love
and Four for a special wish that we shall not tell

So many Questions

Where am I going ? Where am I suppose to be? What’s happening next? What do I do now? How will I know?

Open your eyes….. Look around….. You are where you need to be. You are who you are suppose to be… You already have the gifts you so desperately seek.

It is up to you to do the work. What are you waiting for ? It’s as if you think some giant sign will appear from the heavens that says … “You have made it…. You are here.” That’s not going to happen so stop waiting and stop asking.

There are no instructions…. There are no promises… Take the wheel and stop being a passenger in your own life. You are so afraid of taking a step forward that you don’t move at all. You just stand there asking all these questions…. Waiting for a big billboard to drop down in front of you with instructions for every move you should make.

Be you… Take control. Your instinct is there for a reason. Use it! Trust it!

When you begin asking the advise of others for every little thing that comes up in your life … you will start getting false answers. This is because Spirit is teaching you to trust YOUR OWN answers.

It is o to ask someone else from time to time.. after all.. if we look back and think about it.. we already knew the answers before we asked our questions.. we are just needing validation. Well there comes a point that you have to stop asking for validation so much and start trusting yourself.

I don’t post this because I want you all to stop asking me questions.. I’m posting this because I want you to have the tools and understanding to start trusting yourself and start believing in yourself. Before you ask advice … think about how you truly feel about the questions and what you feel about your own answers. Go ahead and ask…. but if validation does come through to you .. then TRUST yourself. Allow your own intuition to do it’s job. Stop second guessing yourself and everyone else.

I know many that will seek advice from me and then another and another and another. Some times we all give the same answers and yet they still question. Some times we all give different answers … and still they are not satisfied.

The correct answer is inside yourself.

Many Blessings,
Raventalker

I am Unworthy

Tsk Tsk Tsk… this statement is the most damaging of all. The negative thoughts you put into your head about yourself, stop you dead in your own tracks. Your growth physically, mentally and Spiritually is halted with every negative thought you imprint upon yourself.

I see it every day … friends saying things like: “I can’t” , “I don’t know how”, “I’m afraid”, “I don’t have the skills”.. how about not talking and pointing out what you can’t or think you can’t do and instead focusing on the things you are good at and the things you CAN DO!

Stop talking down about yourself to yourself and others!

Work on improving the areas that need improving while showcasing the talents you have already mastered. This will boost yourself confidence and help your personal growth.

Many Blessings,
Raventalker

Seeing Beyond the Surface

The beauty of anything and anyone becomes clear once you see beyond the surface. To see and know the whole picture we must  go far deeper than the outer appearance. Things we never knew were there are revealed when we take the time to examine further.

Daily Insight – Insight – Growth – Balance

Ace of Air – Inspiration  – Insight – Mental Clarity

The answers are clear….. follow that hunch – that inner knowing. You know what to do so why question what you already know and feel? An inner balance will help you find the trust that is needed. Practice meditations and begin following your hunches… the more you follow the more you will begin trusting yourself fully.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nine of Fire – Inner Strength – Break Through – Growth – Courage – Resolve
You know the gifts and the strengths that exist inside you… and you must begin now to trust that they will sprout fourth when the time is right. This does not mean that your actions stop.. it means you continue your work to progress but have patience in yourself and allow the gifts to fully develop in their own time. It is hard to see our own growth.. but take a journey back and look at where you were 10 years ago, 5 years ago, 3 years ago and even just 1 year ago.. you are growing .. and you must truth that you will continue this path of growth.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Balance – Looking Within – Change – Transformation

It is easy to become overwhelmed in today’s life .. take some time to step back and reflect within. Sometimes we must withdraw to regroup and gain our balance. Let  go of “doing” and just let go for a while. Listen to your inner knowing and when the time is right to begin “doing” again.. you’ll know.

Letting go is the key to wisdom…  clarity is revealed when one lets go.  Easier said then done… I know.. but practice makes perfect .. so pend some time teaching yourself the act of letting go.. even if for small moments at a time. You will benefit greatly from this practice, and the more you do it the more you benefit.

Many Blessings,
Raventalker

30 Things I am Thankful For

  20. My Sight – to be able to see the world, nature and all the magic that surrounds us daily
  21. My hearing – to hear the sound of my husbands voice, laughter, the song of the birds, the sound of night, the sounds of morning, what a great gift hearing is.

  29. Kisses – Mmmmmmmmmmm they soothe away all kinds of pain
  30. Life – I am blessed  although at times I have felt cursed.. life is worth living .. life is worth enjoying and it’s worth doing it over and over again. So, there you have it 30 things I am thankful for…. the list could go on and on and in far more detail …. but for now .. I feel this will do.

Many Blessings to one and all,

Beauty in Odd Places

So I was working in one of our other offices today .. across the parking lot is a weed infested bank. I grabbed my camera and said .. I’ve got to go take pictures of those weeds… I believe I then heard the words “You’re crazy” …. was I?   Beauty is every where … our world becomes what we see right in front of us. We can look at something and see it’s faults and short comings .. or we can see the beauty that is born in all things.  Trash or Treasure… You Decide!

The Ginkgo Biloba Tree

Ginkgo is an absolutely fascinating herb, magically speaking. For one, it is the only tree on the planet that has survived basically unchanged since the dinosaur age. For another, it’s not too much of a stretch to look at the leaf shape and see one half of the hemisphere of the human brain. Indeed, the ancients saw this correlation and as a result, the leaf has been used as a brain food for centuries, both in medicine and in magic. Lastly, it is a tree that can survive for 1,000 years or more, making it a true “Tree of Life.

Due to its age, Ginkgo is considered an elder with high magical energy, and is used in longevity and age spells. A tradition is to plant a Ginkgo on the occasion of births to ensure long life, and in death to ensure longevity in the peaceful afterworld.

Ginkgo is also considered an aphrodisiac and fertility herb, and can be used in love and fertility spells to these ends. Indeed, Ginkgo seeds are sometimes substituted for Lotus seeds at weddings due to this property. One legend has it that if a girl sits under a male Ginkgo tree on a moonlit night, combs her hair and makes a wish, her wish will come true.

Wood from Ginkgo trees can be carried for healing, and the leaf can be used in healing rituals. Also try a tea for healing and for mental acuity before an examination or important business dealing.

Ginkgo Biloba is one of the most popular herbal remedies in use today. Like many other herbs, our ancestors have known of and taken advantage of its healing properties for centuries. Doctors recommend caution when taking this herb, as it is extremely potent. Symptoms of overuse include skin disorders, headaches, and other issues. Taken with respect for dosing guidelines, and awareness, Ginkgo Biloba can vastly enhance your alternative healing medicine cabinet.

The Ginkgo Biloba tree is the sole survivor of an entire genus of related trees, and therefore truly in a class all by itself. Fossil records indicate this tree flourished before and during the dinosaur era. Unlike the dinosaurs, and many other life forms, Ginkgo Biloba survived virtually unchanged. Aside from being an incredible survivor, the nature of this tree runs contrary to almost every other plant on Earth. To begin, it is a deciduous conifer; meaning its leaves fall off every year, unlike a pine tree. The Ginkgo tree also comes in female and male genders; with the later having motile sperm. In modern times, there are only a few samples of wild trees reported to be left in the Shandong province of China. Not only are some of these trees reputed to be over 3,000 years old, they sport aerial roots that took hundreds of years to develop.

The Ginkgo Biloba tree was first introduced in Europe in the early 18 th century where it gained immense popularity as an ornamental tree. In the 1980s, researchers discovered the potent effect extracts from this tree have on the cardiovascular system.

Almost every part of the tree has medicinal properties. The leaves are known to contain flavones glycosides, lactones, sitosterol, bioflavones, and anthocyanins. The main therapeutic function is the relaxation of blood vessels and stimulation of the circulatory system. Hence, the observation that Ginkgo improves mental function, as it improves blood flow in the brain. Continued research on this front holds promise for isolating a compound that will reduce, or perhaps even alleviate the symptoms of dementia that often accompanies Alzheimer’s disease. Fluid extract from fresh Ginkgo Biloba leaves are already widely sold in Europe to treat cerebral arteriosclerosis in the elderly.

Recent research has demonstrated that ginkgolide, a compound found in the leaves, is as effective as many standard pharmaceutical drugs currently used to treat irregular heartbeats. Tinctures made from fresh Ginkgo Biloba leaves are combined with other herbs such as periwinkle and linden to treat a number of circulatory problems. Many herbalists also combine the leaves of the Ginkgo tree with king’s clover to treat venous disorders.

Other uses for the Ginkgo Biloba leave include the treatment of varicose veins, leg ulcers, inflammations, and hemorrhoids. For these ailments, herbalists make an infusion that can be turned into a wash.

The Ginkgo Biloba seeds are also rich in minerals, fatty acids, and bioflavones. The seeds are especially popular in traditional Chinese medicine, and are called bai gou. They are believed to act on the lung and kidneys and are used to treat the symptoms of asthmatic disorders, and all chest problems that produce thick phlegm. The seeds of the Ginkgo tree are also believed to have a toning effect on the urinary system, and are useful in the treatment of excessive urination, or incontinence.

The Ginkgo Biloba tree has become firmly established in the repertoire of all herbalists. Researchers today are confirming a wealth of healing properties for the cardiovascular system. With careful attention to dosing guidelines, the Ginkgo Biloba can be safe, effective, and reliable in treating various illnesses.

Many Blessings,

Magical Monday – Will

WOW!!! This is the oddest thing ever … ok well maybe not ever .. but it certainly is an odd part of today!

So, today is Monday and as usual it’s time for me to post something for Magical Mondays. First I set off to see if there was something magical I could capture through my camera lense.. but nothing really clicked for me. I then went to my Vision Quest deck to see if something magical would pop up there and this is what happened next!

I took out the deck and began shuffling, thinking about Magical Mondays.. hoping something inspirational would arise from the deck to help me out this morning. I shuffled and shuffled and at the end  of my shuffling I looked down at the deck and this card was laying on top.. face up. I said to the card, “now what are you doing there .. get back into the deck” .. so I popped it back into the deck, shuffled a bit more and then thought .. I know I will take this deck to someone else and let them just pull a card… guess what card they pulled… yep! This one! CRAZY!

So here we go:
____________________________________
2 of Fire – Will

The message reads: You don’t need to manipulate anything in or outside of yourself. If you stay centered now, everything will turn out well.

Your present task is to find the good will that nature gave you and let it do the work you used to take upon yourself.
____________________________________

You see I began the day with struggle.. I struggled against my own nature and against my own self trust to find the words needed for today’s magical post. Just when I thought I had nothing, Spirit showed me that magic is everywhere and in everything. How else do you explain the card laying face forward and on top of my deck, being pushed back into the deck and then being pulled right back out by another. MAGIC!

When a message is meant to be known.. then it will make it’s way known by any means possible… the will of Spirit here has prevailed and the message has come across to us all now.

Trust ourselves, trust in our own will.. stay focused and what needs to be done … will be done and with a whole lot less effort than we imagined.

Many Blessings,

The Eagle and the Wolf

You just never know where inspiration will come from.. today is a fine example. Last night I created a dream catcher for a lady who ordered it as a gift for an at risk teen that she has been mentoring. They read a poem called The Eagle and the Wolf and that is what inspired the Eagle themed dream catcher.

This morning I posted photos of the dream catcher and then thought maybe I should search for the poem to post with it and so I did. This is what I found:

The Eagle and the Wolf ~Author Unknown

There is a great battle that rages inside me. One side is the soaring eagle. Everything  the eagle stands for is good and true and beautiful and it soars above the clouds. Even though it dips down into the valleys, it lays its eggs on the mountaintops. The other side of me is the howling wolf, and that raging, howling wolf represents the worst in me. He eats upon my downfalls and justifies himself by his presence in the pack. Who wins this great battle? The one I feed.

This poem disappointed me and I am so glad that I did not read it before creating the dream catcher. I would have hated to put in any negative energy that the poem may have brought me into the dream catcher. This poem is a copy cat poem of another about two wolves fighting inside someone. The good wolf and the bad wolf.

The poem about the wolves, I like… the poem about the eagle and the wolf .. I do not and this is why:

When comparing 2 of the same, we say there is the good and the bad side in each of us,  we all do have a good and bad side to us and it is true that the one we feed is the one that wins the battle.  The poem comparing a wolf and an eagle is comparing two separate animals.. making one out to be good and the other bad. Just as all people are not bad .. all wolves are not bad.

Just because you may not understand something, or someone .. it does not make them or it bad. I should add that also, just because you may fear something … does not make it bad.

It is great that the mentor found something that the teen could connect with .. I just wish it had been a comparison of two wolves or two eagles and not two distinctly different animals.   This only separates us. Now this young man will view the wolf as something bad .. instead of understanding more that we all have a choice of who we are and who we shall be.

The point of the story being 2 animals of the same kind was to point out that we all have 2 sides to us that may be different but really are still the same. The two wolves differ in their actions and behaviors but at the end of the day they are both a wolf.

Ordinary Magic

Today I want to take a moment to talk about the world around us and the magic that goes unseen by most.  You see magic isn’t always those things that take our breath away and then again .. it’s all in how you “see”. Most think of magic as a trick or something even made up… not real. Magic is very real.. magic is inside us .. all of us. Yep, that’s right.. magic lives inside of every one of us. It’s a part of everything… you just have to know how to “see” it.

I was standing at the window this morning as my breakfast was warming in the microwave and I was in awe of how the sun was shining through the leaves of a tree just outside the window. When my breakfast had finished warming, I put it on my desk, grabbed my camera and on my way out to photograph the tree.. I stumbled across a few other magical moments that caught my eye. You see beauty and magic can be found in the most ordinary of things, if only you wish to see it.

The Vulture

Today I have been visited by the Vulture several times today so I think I will share with you what I found when researching the Vulture. I think you might be pleasantly surprised .. I was! The vulture has always been depicted as a nasty, vulgar type bird .. a scavenger picking away at the lifeless body of the dead… but today’s research into the personality of the vulture has changed the way I now see him.

The Vulture is the symbol of death and rebirth, the mother symbol, and represents purification.   For those with this totem, you will be noticed more for what you do than how you appear.

Vulture or Condor teaches us how to soar above our limitations.

This Totem is a semi-permanent totem; once it enters your life it will be with you always, through your numerous lifetimes.

You may start to see auras and colors around people; Vulture can help teach you how to accomplish this through patience and vision.  Vultures teach you how to soar without using much energy, how to ride the thermal winds instead of flapping.  Go with the flow.  Use your own energy powerfully and efficiently.

Vulture is associated with the sense of smell and aromatherapy is a good tool to use to connect with this Totem.

The Vulture promises us that no matter how difficult things are at the moment, rescue and change are imminent.

Soar above the drudgeries of everyday life through spirit. And Vulture/Condor is there to protect you in this journey.

Magical Mondays – Hanging On Through Change

This morning I was taking a quick walk around the office building checking out the fall foliage and took the above photo. Something about it called to me. I sat here for a moment pondering what it was that pulled me into the image and suddenly I understood its message.

Today’s magic is about tapping into our inner resources. These leaves are holding on though they are going through some pretty major changes. They will continue to hold on until the last ounce of life inside them is gone. They share their beauty through all the stages of their life. They do not hide who they are and what they are going through.. every stage of their life is something to behold and until there is no life left… they hold on… tapping into every resource available to them.. they hold on.

Many Blessings for a very Magical Monday!

The Rainbow Warriors

My newest painting in honor of The Rainbow Warriors

Painted on 3 – 16 x 20 canvas panels – acrylic painting on gallery wrapped stretched canvases

What is a Rainbow Warrior?

When the earth is ravaged and the animals are dying, a new tribe of people shall come unto the earth from many colors, classes, creeds, and who by their actions and deeds shall make the earth green again. They will be known as the Warriors of the Rainbow — Old Native American Prophecy

Raven activates the energy of magic and links it to our will and intention. With this totem, we can make great changes in our life; the ability to take the unformed thought and make it reality.

The raven shows us how to go into the dark of our inner self and bring out the light of our true self; resolving inner conflicts which have long been buried. This is the deepest power of healing we can possess.

The Meaning of 10-11-12 Revealed!

That’s right everyone … today is 10/11/12 ! So what does this all mean?

It means that today is the eleventh day of the tenth month on the year 2012.

Yep.. that’s it!

What else were you expecting? Some profound meaning about the numbers aligning and with that alignment also comes global and planetary alignment as well? Well it is possible but not happening today.

Today is just one of those cool sequence of numbers showing up in the date. We will have to wait another 100 years before we can celebrate this again 🙂

Is the date magical? That’s entirely up to you. You make each day what you want it to be. If you want it to be a date to remember forever.. then do something profound today that will make this day worth remembering in a positive way.

The magic isn’t in the date.. the magic is in you. It’s in each of us.

Conquering Your Fear

A vision from one of my morning meditations:

At some point, what seems to me now like it may have been in the middle of this mornings meditation, I found myself on a paved road, but the center of the road was flooded with water and had broken away.  The edges of the road were jagged and at first I stood there looking at it, knowing I needed to make it to the other side but how?

I examined the road and what parts were left that were still paved and I began walking on the edge to try and make it over to the other side. Suddenly water flowed over the side I was on and now there was no paved edging to walk on. If I was going to make it to the other side I would have to get wet. I would have to fully immerse myself into the water and through my own efforts make my way to the other side.

Water is a symbol of emotions. Good and bad (all emotions). So in this vision, you can see I have a path to follow but my emotions seem to have blocked my way. In fear of facing these emotions, I tried to navigate around them but Spirit took away that possibility, forcing me to make the choice of standing still and not moving forward, running the other way, or facing my fears and facing my emotions by pushing through them.

I stood on the edge of that pavement only for a moment before I realized what was needed. With a little hesitation and one big gulp of gumption.. I jumped right into the water and swam my way across. It turns out I was afraid of nothing. I did not drown, I did not even struggle .. I swam straight across with no trouble at all. When I got to the other side… crawled upon the pavement and looked back at where I had just come from…. I smiled and giggled just a little. What on Earth was I so worried about? I had let my fears stop me from moving forward. I allowed silly thoughts I made up in my own mind to be “Oh this can’t be good”… and I allowed my progress to be halted for a moment. It is true that we are our own worst enemies at times.  It is so easy to convince ourselves of just about anything. Be careful of what you allow yourself to believe. Trust yourself and your abilities. Know that you have it within you to make it through whatever life throws in your direction.

It is smart to think before you leap, just don’t let it stop you from moving forward.

A New Journey

I love it when I go into meditation and a ceremony takes place that I get to experience.  This morning as I began my meditation I felt the presence of my grandmother right away. Quickly I was thrust into a ceremony with a group of elder women. I’ll share with you my experience now:

I found myself in my traditional natural fiber ceremonial clothing, a lightweight linen in natural color. I will refer to the elder women from here on out as “grandmothers”. One grandmother was brushing my hair, while another two were rubbing down my arms, hands, legs and feet with an ointment or oil. A fourth grandmother was speaking, telling me what was going on and doing energy work as the other 3 grandmothers continued their physical work on me. They were preparing me for the ceremony. One does not just go into ceremony without first being cleansed and prepared.

I was full of questions and they told me to be quiet. They told me I must quiet my mind and body as they continue their work. So I did my best to let them do what they needed to do, however curious my mind was and no matter how badly I wanted to question everything that was happening.

One grandmother was working on my feet and it reminded me of Peter Pan, when Wendy was trying to sew his shadow to the bottom of his feet. The grandmother that was working on my feet must have known my thoughts, for she spoke and told me that she was preparing me for a new journey. It looked and felt as if she was spiritually sewing new soles onto the bottom of my feet. It seemed like this took her forever to do.

Once they were done rubbing my legs and arms with the oil, I was layed down on a solid surface. One grandmother worked on my hands while the other continued working on my feet. The grandmother that had been brushing my hair is now working on my head and has layed a couple of coin looking medallions over my eyes. They were cold like coins but not made of metal. I’m not sure what they were made of, but they were hand carved and made for the sole purpose of giving one new vision. The fourth grandmother continued to talk to me as she did energy work over my entire body.

Suddenly I am transported to many places. It looks like the world keeps shifting around me as I visit various places. The first was the base of a mountain, then to a waterfall. I wanted to get up and explore but they knocked me back down. The grandmother at my feet said to the others, you are right this one is very impatient. Relax child, this journey is not like the many you have had before. You must lay still to experience this one. Oh, how hard it was to lay there with all of this going on around me. I found it so hard to focus as everything continued to change. Just as I would see clearly the world around me, it would change into something else.  From the waterfall, I was transported to the seaside. It was cloudy and cold as if I were somewhere in Europe, very rocky and the waves were crashing into the beach and onto the rocks. I was then sent to a hillside where I could see over the ocean and the grandmothers continued their work.

Then I was shown the standing stones. I felt the energy from each. All similar but different. I was shown one place that was grand. Very tall stone structure that symbolized a city. It was a  very large, massive scaled version of a city or meeting place. I then saw as the structure fell and the stones scattered. I saw people taking stones away and placing them all over the Earth. I questioned about the stones not being ridged, since they had fallen it seemed like they should have had sharp edges, but they all seemed far too smooth to have just fallen. I was then shown that they were once underwater after they had fallen. They were under that water for a long time before they were then moved. The water flowing over  them for so many years was what gave them their new shapes. I was shown the stone people.. they were the guardians of the city and they wrapped around it in protection. I was shown people over the years gathering at the different stone areas of the world. Only a few really felt the true energy of the stones. Many gathered, but most were unaware of their true purpose or energy. These were seekers that were not ready for that kind of understanding. Those that are ready will soak up the energy like a sponge but say nothing or at least very little of their experiences for  the experience alone were too intricate to describe with words. The experience for those were also so very personal, many not fully understanding it themselves. Left not knowing how to begin to tell their own stories.

This is how my meditation, my experience this morning ended. I am full of questions, but also an understanding and a knowing of something new to me. I feel there will be more to this journey… but for now I must be patient and wait until it is time for the next chapter to be revealed.

Many Blessings,
Raventalker

The Standing Stones

I was just in meditation and a vision was given to me about the standing stones that are scattered around the world. I have no way of knowing if this could be true, but the vision I was given is perfectly clear.

The stones I keep hearing are like a key… broken apart in puzzle form. To understand the stones truth you must map them together as if they were at one point in the same place.

If the stones were to be mapped together.. layered on top of each other, then their intent and purpose would be clear. Separated they have a mystery, an unknown story… but to bring them back together… the story, the truth is revealed.

Wow! I’d love to know if there has ever been anyone who has tried this. What I am seeing is the stones on a transparent type of film and then overlayed on top of each other and rearranged until suddenly they all seem to match up creating one perfectly clear image of something entirely unexpected, entirely different.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, certainly some food for thought.

Many Blessings,

The Birth of a New Day

How to start your day with magic: Rise before the sun and behold the wonders that reveals themselves before you.

A co-worker said to me yesterday, “You see things the rest of us miss”. She had said this after I had sent her a photo I had taken yesterday afternoon of a cloud with a silver lining and a rainbow effect.

Life is what you open yourself up to see. You can walk around with your eyes focused on the ground, watching your every step.. or you can lift your eyes to the wonders that are around you. It’s a choice… a conscious effort.

What choices will you make today?

Many Blessings,

The Silver Lining & The Rainbow!

Who knew that beyond the silver lining was also a rainbow!

If nothing else this photo is a reminder to hold on when the storm is brewing. The storm will only last for a short period of time and when it has passed and the sky has cleared, the silver lining reveals itself and if we hold steady and remain grounded, we may also get the opportunity to see the rainbow!

I’ve seen many storms and been through all kinds of weather. The silver lining is always there. I may not see it right away, but it’s there. Looking back now at all the storms that have passed, I see more of those silver linings that may have alluded me at the time. The storms often felt unbearable and many times I wanted to just give up. I am glad now that I have held on and that I did not give up. Those storms shaped me into who I am and who I have always been … I just didn’t know it. The storms show us our strengths and what scares us is not knowing just how strong we are. It’s not the storm that causes as much fear as the not knowing. We fear the “what ifs” far more than we fear the “what is”.

The clouds may continue to roll in… but don’t fear the storm, for it shall pass as all the many storms before it.

Hold tight for the silver lining will some day appear and bring with it… rainbows!

Many Blessings,
Raventalker

Chakras!

What the heck are chakras you say???

Chakras are the points in your body where energy flows from. When a chakra becomes blocked .. illness can set in or we may be thrown off balance, mind, body and soul.

It’s good to do chakra meditation and other chakra alignment work to keep you well and in balance.

Here’s a brief description of the 7 chakras from mindbodygreen.com:

1. Root Chakra – Represents our foundation and feeling of being grounded.
Location: Base of spine in tailbone area.
Emotional issues: Survival issues such as financial independence, money, and food.
Color: Red

 2. Sacral Chakra – Our connection and ability to accept others and new experiences.
Location: Lower abdomen, about 2 inches below the navel and 2 inches in.
Emotional issues: Sense of abundance, well-being, pleasure, sexuality.
Color: Orange

 3. Solar Plexus Chakra – Our ability to be confident and in-control of our lives.
Location: Upper abdomen in the stomach area.
Emotional issues: Self-worth, self-confidence, self-esteem.
Color: Yellow

4. Heart Chakra – Our ability to love.
Location: Center of chest just above heart.
Emotional issues: Love, joy, inner peace.
Color: Green

 5. Throat Chakra – Our ability to communicate.
Location: Throat.
Emotional issues: Communication, self-expression of feelings, the truth.
Color: Blue

6. Third Eye Chakra – Our ability to focus on and see the big picture.
Location: Forehead between the eyes. (Also called the Brow Chakra)
Emotional issues: Intuition, imagination, wisdom, ability to think and make decisions.
Color: Violet

 7. Crown Chakra – The highest Chakra represents our ability to be fully connected spiritually. Location: The very top of the head.
Emotional issues: Inner and outer beauty, our connection to spirituality, pure bliss.
Color: Violet (some use white for the crown)

A simple chakra meditation I like to do is as follows:

– First settle in a comfortable position and do a few breathing exercises to relax.

– Imagine each chakra point as the color that represents that energy point. You may visualize it as a colored ball, a window, a flower, a door, etc.

– Visualizing one chakra at a time  – see the image  – see it’s vibrant color and then open it. (if you visualize a ball.. make it spin, if it is a door ,a window or a flower, then open them.)

– Don’t move on to the next point until you are comfortable with the first one..

– Once you have gone through each energy point – go through them again and again until you feel you are done.

– practice makes perfect – it can take some time to get the hang of it, the more you do this the better you get.

– When you feel like you are done  – be sure to close each one before ending your meditation.. stop the ball from spinning or close the windows, doors and or flowers.

Let the healing begin!

Many Blessings,
Raventalker

Magical Mondays – Where Do You Go?

Often, when I go to bed I meditate before going to sleep. In my meditation I always go to the same place, I guess you might call this my happy place. I had never given this place much thought until recently. The other night as I made my way to that familiar place, I paused for a moment and gave more thought to that place and why I go there and how it makes me feel. I’d like to share with you now, my thoughts about my own happy place.

My happy place is a creek bank on the edge of a large field. Behind me is a row of trees that separates the bank from the open field. The bank is slightly sloped and filled with tall grasses. I can hear the water softly rambling just below where I lay in the tall grass. It’s always a sunny beautiful day with the random fluffy cloud that may pass by as a gentle breeze flows through the air. The smell of nature fills my senses and the warm sun gives me that cozy feeling of love and happiness. The birds sing their songs and fly overhead, often landing for a moment in the trees…. butterflies flutter across the land and I am at home.

I am alone, there on the creek bank and yet not afraid, not worried, not lonely, never sad or upset. When I go to that place, that little creek bank I am whole, I am happy and I am at peace. I lay there taking in the warmth of the sun, the nurturing feeling of the ground beneath me and the bliss that nature provides. I lay there first thinking of my breathing, slowing my pace and getting myself settled in for whatever journey Spirit wishes to bring my way.

In the past I would go to my place, do my thing and then on into the meditations, but in this moment I took the time to fully appreciate the entire process. Appreciating my happy place and all that it offered, how it made me feel and the content that it brings me.

So, now that you have heard all about my happy place… give a little more thought to your own… where do you go and why?

Many Blessings,

Being Different

I walked outside a moment ago and noticed a tree, all green except for this single leaf … from there my thoughts went to:

Just because everyone around you isn’t changing, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t.

Change is a natural occurrence that happens in all things. For us to grow, we must change in one way or another. Maybe it is our thoughts, our way of living, the way we do particular things, the way we process information, the way we handle life or any number of possibilities one might change. Don’t worry about fitting in with everyone else. Be YOU! Enjoy the changes that naturally occur within you and allow them sculpt you into the person you were born to be.

Let your own unique beauty shine!

Many Blessings,
Raventalker

Magical Mondays

I’m going to try and dedicate Mondays to Magical posts. Don’t be surprised if you find that my magical posts are what one might expect. I’m all about mixing things up and keeping it real. That being said.. let’s move on to our first Magical Monday post!

Mondays are hard… it’s back to work from a weekend that is always too short. Let’s take time every Monday to empower ourselves, rev up our engines and charge our week for positive thoughts, actions and manifestations.

Find a chant, phrase or even a simple thought that fits your needs for the week ahead and repeat it as often as needed throughout the day.

Today’s chant comes from a post I made this morning on another group.

Singing this chant in my best munchkin land voice from the Wizard of Oz:
Millions of Dollars, Millions of Dollars, Millions of Dollars are on the way… Millions of Dollars, Millions of Dollars will fill my bank account today!

Many Blessings,
Raventalker

Story of the day – The Crow

Story of the day:

I was taking the dog out.. nearly left my camera behind… but grabbed it last minute.

As soon as I step outside, a flock of crows flew past and two of them landed in the tree top just in front of me. You know me… so I began snapping pics and when they flew away I walked the dog around the yard.

I headed over to the tree from yesterday’s ghostly adventure but the sun was already down and I snapped photos anyway but nothing… as I turn to walk away from the tree I noticed a black feather… woohoooo lookie.. this is for me! As I walked around I found loads just in front of that tree.. no where else …. just there in front of that crazy tree!

I just counted the feathers … 11 of them!

See below for information about the crow and the number 11.

The Crow:

Crows are the keepers of the Sacred Law and to have a Crow totem is very powerful.

Personal Integrity are your watchwords and your guide in Life. If you have a Crow totem, your prime path  is to be mindful of your opinions and actions. You must be willing to walk your talk, to speak your truth and to know your life’s mission.

Crow is a omen of Change.   Crow lives in the void and has no sense of time, therefore, it sees past, present and future simultaneously. Crow merges both light and dark, both inner and outer. It is the totem of the Great Spirit and must be respected as such.

They are symbols of creation and spiritual strength. Look for opportunities to create and manifest the magic of life. Crows are messengers calling to us  about the creation and magic that is alive in the world today and available to us.

Number 11:

Number 11 symbolizes the principles of spiritual awakening and enlightenment, high energy, idealism, inspiration and intuition, illumination, visionary, enthusiasm, creative/creativity, self-expression and sensitivity, and mysticism.  Number 11 tells us that to connect with our higher-selves is to know and live our soul mission and life purpose.
