He Loves Me… He Loves Me Not

WP_20140518_012-4I just had an interesting conversation with the clerk at the grocery store and must share:

I was checking out when some lady began speaking to my cashier in some other language that I certainly did not understand at all. My cashier replied back and the conversation went on for some time. It ended and my cashier said to me, she said that I (the cashier) should find someone, that it must be lonely being single and alone. I just stood there listening. She then said, I don’t want a boyfriend, boyfriends leave you and break your heart, I just want to find a husband and then love him. She said, husbands don’t leave you, so husbands don’t break your heart. Okay, now she has my full attention and I replied, husbands do sometimes break your heart as well. She looked at me and asked, How? I said, well, husbands leave you too. She said, not in my country, we don’t believe in divorce. To divorce in my country it is shameful, if a woman divorces she could be killed and if not the family will not take you back either because they are ashamed. I said to her, well then I hope he loves you back and she replied with, if he doesn’t then I will just pitty him. She finished ringing me up and I wished her luck.

On my drive back home I kept thinking about the conversation. It rolled around and around in my head. I pondered the pros and cons of her belief. Those who don’t believe in divorce sounds like a promising situation …. unless….. one of the people is mean, hurtful and nasty to the other in some way, what about being eternally married to someone who is abusive?… certainly not my idea of happily ever after. Divorce is not fun either and I don’t think anyone goes into a marriage thinking that somewhere down the line a divorce will be in their future…. but it happens.

My mind then went to her worry of being heartbroken. She doesn’t want a boyfriend because she is fearful of falling in love with someone who could leave her and break her heart. In my own life I have had my heart broken many times and it sucked every single time… but also in between all of those heartbreaks were moments of great love. The big question is would you give up those moments of love to keep your heart from ever being broken?

No matter how horrible and painful those heartbreaks may have been, I certainly wouldn’t want to give up those moments of love. To think about living my life with the possibility of never knowing or feeling love is far scarier than worrying about getting my heart broken. Your heart will mend but not without love.

Those moments of love are what get me through the times when love is absent. It makes me very sad to think about never experiencing those moments. Don’t be afraid of heartbreak… you should never be afraid to love and be loved.

Hawk Meanings

I pulled into the parking lot at work this morning and noticed a couple of crows in the tree at the other end of the lot … I grabbed my camera and slowly walked toward the tree so that I wouldn’t frighten them away .. walking in a way that didn’t make me look too eager or aggressive… as I got closer I looked up and There was a Red Tailed Hawk sitting on the brick wall below them with his breakfast… check out the video for more information about our friend the Hawk.    🙂

Weaving with the Spider

IMG_2624This morning as I settled into work, I felt this overwhelming urge to go outside with my camera.. something was out there waiting for it’s photo op. I looked up into the sky, looked all around at the trees and then began to walk around the roses in front of me. I wasn’t seeing anything so I moved my focus in for a better look and what do you know… there she was … little miss spider waiting there on the rose petal, waiting.

So today I am to give you some information about Grandmother Spider and ask you to always be thinking about your own web that you weave throughout your life.

Spider is a symbol of creativity.  Is the weaver of the web of life and of fate.  Spider is able to interconnect, linking the past and the future, birth and creation.  If spider crawls into our awareness, it is asking us to rebuild the web of our life in accordance with the design Great Spirit gave us.IMG_2580

The spider shows us that the past, the present and the future are all interwoven.  It awakens our intuitive creative senses and encourages us to design the fabric of our lives from our souls original intention.

Take a moment to think about the web you continuously weave.

Understanding Crow Sounds

I had an interesting chat with a Crow this morning … he kept making the Rattle or Comb Call that you’ll find on this link… he was really quiet and just made this sound gently. I did a bit research to find out what that particular sound meant and this is what I found  (it is used to acknowledge familial association, whenever a crow does such a performance, they are expressing a willingness to be approached, and a need for affection).

http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/american_crow/sounds

This was the first time I had heard this sound from my crow friends … usually in pairs this one was alone and I walked up close and he sat there watching me, so would whistle and talk to him and he made that sound back at me so I went inside and brought him out some extra treats.

I have seen several documentaries that speak about the meanings of the different crow sounds so I am always paying attention to the sounds they make when I see them.

Morning Caw

Every morning for the past several weeks I am greeted by the crows caw… I hear them as I’m crawling out of bed at 5am and then again when I step outside my door.. they are there to say good morning. When I get to work I often hear them in the distance giving their wake up call. This morning was no different .. only they were close enough to snap a few clicks. Most associate morning wake up calls with the rooster .. but for me it is the crow. 🙂

The Goose

IMG_1250This morning I had a lovely dream about a Goose. I was in a house that “in the dream” must have been mine … but I have never seen a house like the one in this dream. I was in my bedroom which was on the top floor and windows surrounded the room and outside the windows was the ocean.

One of the windows was open and a black and purple Goose flew into the room and crash landed on top of me. This goose was a bit startled …. as was I. She was getting up and as she was .. she spoke to me. I was startled even more, wide eyed and in shock I looked at her and said.. “you can talk”.  She laughed and said of course I can talk and said a few other things to me but now I can’t even remember what those things were. She then layed down next to me and snuggled in a ever so loving and gentle way. It was adorable and I just sat there in total shock. It wasn’t long before a man entered the room, picked her up and tossed her out the window. It happened so quickly I couldn’t stop him… but not to worry … she started flying and then buzzed the windows and let me know she would be back.

Whew.. what a wild and crazy dream! I love it!

Here’s some info I found on the Goose:

Communication
Imprinting Your Life Path

A Goose totem reflects a stimulation of childhood thrills and the belief in stories and legends. The stories we loved as children often reflect our life quest. Think about the stories that affected you the most and see what in them you took into your adult life.

The Goose also helps in communication, especially with the written word.

It is also a symbol of fertility and marital fidelity. Goose people have an innate belief that there is just one special person for each one.

Since Geese are vegetarians, those with a Goose totem should always incorporate plenty of vegetables into their diet.

The Goose was a sacred bird in the Roman temples of Juno; associated with the North Wind in Greek Mythology; and the totem for the Winter Solstice for the Native Americans.

Their honking call speaks of the fulfilled promises that great quests bring.

The Wolf Spirit

wolf and raven paintingI had a wolf pup visit me last night in dream state. A new guardian for me. I have had wolf guides for a very long time now. This visitor was a new one … he was a mix of black and white in color with blue eyes.. very sweet and protective. In dream state I was a mostly white wolf and was told that the coloring in this case had to do with progression as the wolf spirit. A full white wolf was a 100% progression as the wolf spirit. I wasn’t all white, I still had some other colors in my coat but getting there 🙂 .. the new pup was mostly black but with some parts very white … it was a nice, comforting visit in my sleep.

So in honor of the wolf who showed up in my dreams last night … here’s some info on the wolf totem: (info below from birdclan.org)

Wolf is the pathfinder, the forerunner of new ideas who returns to the clan to teach and share medicine. Wolf takes one mate for life and is loyal like Dog. If you were to keep company with Wolves, you would find an enormous sense of family within the pack, as well as a strong individualistic urge, and they live by carefully defined rules and rituals. They are friendly, social, and highly intelligent.

Wolves are the epitome of the wild spirit.

The senses of Wolf are very keen, and the moon is its power ally. The moon is the symbol for psychic energy, or the unconscious that holds the secrets of knowledge and wisdom. Baying at the moon may be an indication of Wolf’s desire to connect with new ideas which are just below the surface of consciousness.

Wolf would not come to you unless you requested the appearance of the tribe’s greatest teacher. The wolf teaches you to know who you are and to develop strength, confidence and surety in that so that you do not have to demonstrate and prove yourself at all.

Wolves have a complex communication system – using body language. Usually those with wolf totems are very expressive with hands, posture, face or in some other manner. If you have difficulty conveying your moods and ideas to others, meditate and study the wolf. It will teach you how to empower your verbal communications with appropriate body language.

Wolf medicine empowers the teacher within us all to come forth and aid the children of Earth in understanding the Great Mystery and life. As you feel Wolf coming alive within you, you may wish to share your knowledge by writing or lecturing on information that will help others better understand their uniqueness or path in life. It is in the sharing of great truths that the consciousness of humanity will attain new heights.

Traditionally, someone with Wolf Medicine has a strong sense of self, and communicates well through subtle changes in voice inflection and body movements. They often find new solutions to problems while providing stability and support that one normally associates with a family structure.

The Eagle and the Wolf

You just never know where inspiration will come from.. today is a fine example. Last night I created a dream catcher for a lady who ordered it as a gift for an at risk teen that she has been mentoring. They read a poem called The Eagle and the Wolf and that is what inspired the Eagle themed dream catcher.

This morning I posted photos of the dream catcher and then thought maybe I should search for the poem to post with it and so I did. This is what I found:

The Eagle and the Wolf ~Author Unknown

There is a great battle that rages inside me. One side is the soaring eagle. Everything  the eagle stands for is good and true and beautiful and it soars above the clouds. Even though it dips down into the valleys, it lays its eggs on the mountaintops. The other side of me is the howling wolf, and that raging, howling wolf represents the worst in me. He eats upon my downfalls and justifies himself by his presence in the pack. Who wins this great battle? The one I feed.

This poem disappointed me and I am so glad that I did not read it before creating the dream catcher. I would have hated to put in any negative energy that the poem may have brought me into the dream catcher. This poem is a copy cat poem of another about two wolves fighting inside someone. The good wolf and the bad wolf.

The poem about the wolves, I like… the poem about the eagle and the wolf .. I do not and this is why:

When comparing 2 of the same, we say there is the good and the bad side in each of us,  we all do have a good and bad side to us and it is true that the one we feed is the one that wins the battle.  The poem comparing a wolf and an eagle is comparing two separate animals.. making one out to be good and the other bad. Just as all people are not bad .. all wolves are not bad.

Just because you may not understand something, or someone .. it does not make them or it bad. I should add that also, just because you may fear something … does not make it bad.

It is great that the mentor found something that the teen could connect with .. I just wish it had been a comparison of two wolves or two eagles and not two distinctly different animals.   This only separates us. Now this young man will view the wolf as something bad .. instead of understanding more that we all have a choice of who we are and who we shall be.

The point of the story being 2 animals of the same kind was to point out that we all have 2 sides to us that may be different but really are still the same. The two wolves differ in their actions and behaviors but at the end of the day they are both a wolf.

The Vulture

Today I have been visited by the Vulture several times today so I think I will share with you what I found when researching the Vulture. I think you might be pleasantly surprised .. I was! The vulture has always been depicted as a nasty, vulgar type bird .. a scavenger picking away at the lifeless body of the dead… but today’s research into the personality of the vulture has changed the way I now see him.

The Vulture is the symbol of death and rebirth, the mother symbol, and represents purification.   For those with this totem, you will be noticed more for what you do than how you appear.

Vulture or Condor teaches us how to soar above our limitations.

This Totem is a semi-permanent totem; once it enters your life it will be with you always, through your numerous lifetimes.

You may start to see auras and colors around people; Vulture can help teach you how to accomplish this through patience and vision.  Vultures teach you how to soar without using much energy, how to ride the thermal winds instead of flapping.  Go with the flow.  Use your own energy powerfully and efficiently.

Vulture is associated with the sense of smell and aromatherapy is a good tool to use to connect with this Totem.

The Vulture promises us that no matter how difficult things are at the moment, rescue and change are imminent.

Soar above the drudgeries of everyday life through spirit. And Vulture/Condor is there to protect you in this journey.

Story of the day – The Crow

Story of the day:

I was taking the dog out.. nearly left my camera behind… but grabbed it last minute.

As soon as I step outside, a flock of crows flew past and two of them landed in the tree top just in front of me. You know me… so I began snapping pics and when they flew away I walked the dog around the yard.

I headed over to the tree from yesterday’s ghostly adventure but the sun was already down and I snapped photos anyway but nothing… as I turn to walk away from the tree I noticed a black feather… woohoooo lookie.. this is for me! As I walked around I found loads just in front of that tree.. no where else …. just there in front of that crazy tree!

I just counted the feathers … 11 of them!

See below for information about the crow and the number 11.

The Crow:

Crows are the keepers of the Sacred Law and to have a Crow totem is very powerful.

Personal Integrity are your watchwords and your guide in Life. If you have a Crow totem, your prime path  is to be mindful of your opinions and actions. You must be willing to walk your talk, to speak your truth and to know your life’s mission.

Crow is a omen of Change.   Crow lives in the void and has no sense of time, therefore, it sees past, present and future simultaneously. Crow merges both light and dark, both inner and outer. It is the totem of the Great Spirit and must be respected as such.

They are symbols of creation and spiritual strength. Look for opportunities to create and manifest the magic of life. Crows are messengers calling to us  about the creation and magic that is alive in the world today and available to us.

Number 11:

Number 11 symbolizes the principles of spiritual awakening and enlightenment, high energy, idealism, inspiration and intuition, illumination, visionary, enthusiasm, creative/creativity, self-expression and sensitivity, and mysticism.  Number 11 tells us that to connect with our higher-selves is to know and live our soul mission and life purpose.

Me and the Butterfly

For some reason I have been obsessed with butterflies this past week. I have been trying my hardest to capture a photo of a butterfly. I have no idea why I’ve been so obsessed with this lately, but I have. Watching out my office window, looking for the butterfly to pass by, running outside with my camera, trying to capture just a moment with the butterfly. It has been driving me crazy that I’ve not had the opportunity to get a photo. Every time I stepped outside for a moment without my camera… there would be that darned butterfly fluttering around all over the place. I have seen big white ones, yellow ones, and some others… but the opportunity for a photo never came.

So, I’m sitting here at my desk and decide to take my camera outside for a  short break. I notice a feather laying in the grass and move toward it to take a pic, it’s not a butterfly but hey.. it’s a feather! When I moved toward it, up from the grass flew a little Earth colored butterfly/moth. I thought, yep… typical.. flutter on off so I can’t get a photo you little stinker! Just then, the butterfly/moth circled back and landed right at my feet. Camera in hand.. snap snap snap. Whew! Okay, so it wasn’t the butterfly I hoped for but it was a butterfly/moth none the less! I took his photo and moved around to the side of the building to see if there was anything else to photograph before going back inside.

I noticed a bright yellow flower all by itself  about 20 feet or so away. I thought, oh it’s

probably just a dandelion and then I thought, who cares, it’s bright and beautiful anyway. I moved closer to the flower and bent down to take the photo and as soon as the camera was up to my eye and I was about to click the shutter button… look who followed me there and landed right on that flower. hahahahahhahahahaaaaaa

So, I got the bright, vibrant color I was looking for and the ever so elusive butterfly!

How about that!!!

It just goes to show that sometimes we get what we are looking for.. just not the way we thought we wanted it.

Snake Dreams and Snake Meanings

I had a night filled with crazy dreams.. mostly involving lots of snakes…. shudder…. creepy crawly snakes everywhere … I just had to keep reminding myself.. snake represents transformation and healing … shudder shudder … transformation and healing!

Here’s some info on the snake from linsdomain.com

This a powerful totem — it is the symbol of transformation and healing.
The Snake is wisdom expressed through healing.

It is a protector and guardian totem, along with its sister totems, the Dragon and the Serpent.

If a snake totem has come into your life, your creative forces are awakening.
Your intuition will sharpen and be more accurate.

Snake energy is the energy of wholeness, cosmic consciousness, and
the ability to experience anything willingly and without resistance.
It is the knowledge that all things are equal in creation.

It also signals a transition in your life. New opportunities and/or changes.

Snake is fire medicine, the medicine of transmutation.
On a material level, it is vitality; on an emotional level, it is ambition and dreams;
on a mental level, it is intellect and power; on a spiritual level (the highest level),
it is wisdom, understanding and wholeness.

Snake magic is heavy magic.
Become the Magician and transmute the energy and accept the power of the fire.

Many Blessings,

Brother Crow

Crows are messengers calling to us about the creation and magic that is alive in the world today and available to us.

This morning as I was getting ready for work… I could hear a crow outside my window cawing up a storm… and then I heard his message more clearly than ever.

It wasn’t that the Crow had a message for me this morning… it was that he carries with him a message always… you hear it when you are ready. He is forever singing out his message by his magical caw… it is up to us when we are ready to hear what he has to say.

Many Blessings for a magical day!

Just One of Those Magical Days

My day began with the dog wide awake and jumping around. He never does this at 5am when I wake up and get ready for work.. he usually lays sleeping with the hubby .. .both sound asleep without a care in the world. This morning, he was wide awake and bouncing up and down, so I took him outside, thinking maybe he needed to go out. So I step outside with Monty and there is this crow up in the trees cawing like it is nobody’s business. He cawed and cawed as loud as he could. Ok Mr. Crow .. I hear you!

Crow is a omen of Change. Crow lives in the void and has no sense of time, therefore, it sees past, present and future simultaneously. Crow merges both light and dark, both inner and outer. You must be willing to walk your talk, to speak your truth and to know your life’s mission.

On my in to work… I am driving down the interstate and get this sense of change coming. It was a quick glance of me driving down this interstate .. but it being an entirely different interstate than what I was on. I had this same feeling the day before and a few days before that as well. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm…. One begins to wonder… just what exactly is it that is coming?

So, I finally arrive at work and have this feeling when pulling into the parking lot that I need to grab my camera and take some photos. I am drawn to some tall grass in an area just off the parking lot that I usually never venture into. I go inside put all my things away, get my computer going and head outside to see what there is to see with camera in hand! I snapped a couple of photos of the tall grass and reviewing the photos from the camera preview screen.. I am just not drawn by what I see.. so I stand up and have a quick look around, wondering what is it that has drawn me to this spot and then just around the corner of a hedge I see this lone bloom hanging out.. just waiting for me to notice it.

It seems out of place, hanging there all alone and I didn’t think so much about it at the time.. I only thought about how beautiful it was and how I had to try and capture it’s gift to share with everyone. Writing this now I can relate… I, myself … often feel very alone and find myself just hanging out with no one else but myself. Sure there are others all around… but really I feel just like this blossom.. just hanging out with myself.. lol.. no crowd.. just me.. hanging out with my thoughts.

So, now I am inside writing my blog for the day and a Bluejay lands at my window.. looking in and screaming at me! I turn and say “What???” He gives me a look and then screams some more and flies away… then back he came and repeated his looking and screaming. Ok Mr. Bluejay.. I hear you too!

A  Blue Jay totem says, you must learn to use your personal power properly. Develop your gifts and you will have unlimited potential. A Blue Jay totem links you directly with the power of the Earth itself. It can link the heavens and the Earth and give you access to universal energies and power.

I know I have been out of the loop lately .. I haven’t been blogging and I haven’t felt connected to others lately. I have felt very disconnected. I was telling myself that I was just taking a break. Well, I guess my feathered friends are telling me break time is over and I need to get back to it! Okay! Okay! I hear you!

Many Blessings for a magical day!

Magical Moments

I am having a really odd.. yet wonderful day today. I just have to share my experience this morning…

So,  get this.. first off right out of my house I see the 2 deer in my back yard..

As I am typing up my daily blog .. today about the deer.. I finish the blog.. turn to look out

my window and 2 rabbits are out there

along with about 6 or more different birds..

lol.. I have meditation music playing in the background …  I grab my camera and snap a couple of pics of the rabbits … so I plug my camera back up to the computer to upload the rabbit photos off my camera and I hear this crow sounding off.. I thought … hmmmmmmm is that in my music? so turned around to double check and nope there are 2 crow cousins out there now! I’m starting to feel like snow white in the magical forest this morning!! lol..

Oh and lets not forget this Mocking bird that popped in to say hello as I was taking pictures of the Crows

and one last note: while I was typing this story up… I paused to tell my story to a co-worker friend and right as I started my story a dove flew onto my window ledge looking right inside .. straight at us.. lol.. my friend stopped in her tracks to say.. “well hello there!”

Giggles… looking forward to what’s next!

Oh Deer!

This morning as I was taking out the garbage before going to work.. I met my neighbor in the driveway .. she was crouched down looking toward my backyard. Softly she spoke and said to me… there are two deer just over there. I glanced over and this is what I saw. 🙂

These two young deer starring right back at me.. watching and waiting to see what I would do.  Always having my camera in hand, I slowly unzipped my camera bag… snapped a couple of shots and then very quietly and slowly made my way around the other side of the house hoping to get a closer look. So gentle they are. Something about them brings feels of peace and softness to my heart. So for today’s wise words I give you the Deer Totem:

Deer teaches us to use the power of gentleness to touch the hearts and minds of wounded beings who are in our lives.

Don’t push towards change in others, rather gently nudge them in right direction with the love that comes from a Deer totem.

When a Deer totem shows up in your life, a new innocence and freshness is about to be awakened. There is going to be a gentle lure of new adventures. There will  be an opportunity to express the gentle love that will open new doors for you.

Deer folk carry the message of purity of purpose; of walking in the light to dispel shadows. They know the work that they must do, and go about that work with no fanfare and no need for personal glory or recognition.

There are no shadows about deer; no ulterior motives; no hidden agendas; no lies or misrepresentations, and it is not possible for deer to knowingly hurt anyone or anything.

Nothing can cause deer to change its path. There may be many who continually throw roadblocks in the way; deer steps over them or goes around them. Many give deer dozens of reasons why a thing won’t work, but it only listens politely and then continues on. Deer people know what they must do, and will not be turned from its mission.

Many Blessings,
Raventalker

The Dragon’s Way

In honor of the Fire Breathing Dragon piece I just finished in stained glass … I thought I would share with you also this dragon poem I wrote a few years ago.

Here’s the finished panel and the poem below

The Way of the Dragon

It is the dragon’s way
Be silent and listen to what he has to say

In the darkness of the night
He enters into your dreams and takes you on a mystical flight

His passions burn inside, full of desire
He is filled with mystical kind of power
His only release is within his fire

He soars through the night in a blaze
His memory, it will stay with you for days

There, that look in his eyes
You can see his soul and oh how it cries

A giant in the sky he may be
But when it comes to love, he’s as gentle as can be

Swiftly he flies down from above
Bringing you the gift of his dragon love

He says from his heart, dear lady have my heart to hold
It will keep you warm when the days grow cold

Filled with the wisdom of ancient ages
Nothing will stop him, not even cold bar cages.

He speaks with a gentle command
Come now and listen as I sing
I’ll comfort you and keep you safe within my wings

I’ll fight off all your worries and all your fears
I’ll be your protector throughout the years

I am your dragon and this is my dragon way
To watch over and protect you every night and every day.

Many Blessings,
Waya

The Towhee Medicine

This morning I was visited by an Eastern Towhee.. the first time I’ve seen this fellow at my feeder. I had to search the bird index to figure out what he was. Here’s some info I found on him and his medicine:

Towhee represents a time of utmost persistence and confidence. She teaches ways to uncover what is hidden. She shows the value of activity and progressing forward, even if it means taking steps backward. She shows how to maneuver in a way to keep going. Don’t give up. When Towhee appears there may something else you are missing and will show how to go over things with a new perspective. She uses resourcefulness and ingenuity to aid in revealing what is necessary. Is it time to voice your opinion? She shows the power in keeping feet on the ground and balancing energy and time that is spent on activities. Towhee’s medicine includes being quiet,

secretive and subdued when needed as well as being forthright, loud and defensive when it is appropriate. She shows how to balance such passive/aggressive properties. The time period for Towhee’s lesson span about 2 weeks. Be aware of situations where you can implement her wisdom for she will present you with the best course of action.

The House Sparrow

Here’s another little stinker I’ve been playing tag with this morning… he has been to my window feeder more time than I can count and so I’ve been trying to capture a photo of him for nearly 3 hours before finally succeeding! Whew … ok now this is the second bird this morning both with a message of singing our song… I reckon Spirit might be trying to me something this time around :-)

Here’s some info on this totem I found at linsdomain.com

The sparrow is one of the most common birds around, yet it has flourished when other species have failed.

It reflects self-worth. If a Sparrow totem has entered your life, ask yourself if you know your own self-worth. The sparrow will show you that even a common little bird can triumph.

The song sparrow reflects the chakra energy awakening from the heart and throat. It reminds us to sing out our own song of dignity and self-worth.

During the Middle Ages, the Sparrow was the symbol of peasants and the lower classes.

In Ancient Britain, the Sparrow was the symbol of friendly household spirits.

To the Greeks, it was the pet of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love.

The Brown Thrush

This morning I have been playing hide and seek with a Brown Thrush or Brown Thrasher …. ok so he kept hiding while I was seeking to snag a photo …lol

Here’s some info I found at starstuffs.com about the Brown Thrush Totem :

Brown Thrush appears to you it is time to sing a joyous song of life and all of the experiences that surround you. Coincidences and synchronicities will expand your spirituality in a profound way. There is beauty in randomness. She is about following your soul purpose and recognizing innate abilities. Communicating by listening and singing your song, being carefree and open with thoughts, ideas and creativity are part of Brown Thrush lessons. Shy and retreating or outgoing and friendly, what trait do you need to exercise? This animal is also a fierce protector of its environment. Are you watching your territory for those that come too close? Home aspects are also emphasized with order and

cleanliness. Do repairs need to be made? She will teach fearlessness and strength with a balance of gentleness and generosity. Even with strength in defenses your song matches few to bring joy and harmony to many people. Be alert to what may be hidden under the surface. She guides you into focus and clarity. You may have noticed a transformation last July/August, this allows the wisdom of Brown Thrush to be understood now. Brown Thrush’s optimum time is at sunrises and sunsets when meditation and quiet time should be utilized. She brings the feeling of Spring back into your life by rejuvenating your spirit with the beauty of the world. The time period of her lessons is a total of six weeks, 3 phases of two weeks each. Her medicine will show how to adapt with a renewed sense of joy and heightened awareness in each of the stages. Let your soul sing loud from the treetops so others may hear your message.

Many Blessings,
ravensig

Good Morning Mr. Bluebird!

It’s a beautiful sunny Sunday morning and I get a greeting from my dear friend the Bluebird! As soon as I saw him fly across the backyard I ran for my camera hoping he would sit still long enough for a photo or two!

Here’s a bit of info on the bluebird from linsdomian.com:

Bluebird is a reminder that you are born to happiness and fulfillment, but you can sometimes get so wrapped up in everyday things, that happiness seems rare. Bluebird reminds you to take time to enjoy yourself.

Bluebird is associated with the throat chakra and creative expression.

Bluebird is symbolic of the need to work hard and play hard.
Be careful of shouldering too much responsibility.

Bluebirds, and their totem people, are gentle and unaggressive.
They do not push or bully, but they are very scrappy if threatened.

A Bluebird person should have their front door facing south, the door for awakening their inner child.

Many Blessings,
Raventalker

Now Staring… The Starling!

This little fella visited my window this morning 🙂

So here’s a bit of wisdom from our friend the Starling …

Starling teaches how to behave within a group setting – how to be effective and assertive without becoming a bully. Communication is important to Starling people; however, you must be careful what you say, for people may take it incorrectly or blow it out of proportion. Watch your own sensitivity to other’s words. You might be reading more into it that is truly there. By learning Starling’s behaviors, you can live peacefully within your community of friends and family. (from linsdomain.com)

Groundhog Day!!

Happy Groundhog Day!!!

Here are a few things you may NOT have known about the Groundhog!

A very difficult and powerful totem to have,
Groundhog is the symbol of opening fully to the dreamtime.
Of exploring altered states of consciousness more deeply and fully.
Dreams will have great significance.

Lessons associated with death, dying and revelations about its processes will begin to surface.
Groundhog can teach its people metabolic control.
How to go into the great unconscious without harm.

People with a Groundhog totem need to have definite
boundaries in their life and let those around them know those boundaries.

Groundhog’s power is strongest in Winter and two years is an important time period.
Two years of intensive studying might be required to achieve
true trances or alter states of consciousness.

This is often the totem of Shamans and Mystics.

(Above info from linsdomain.com)

Here is some additional history on Groundhog day from wikipedia:

The celebration, which began as a Pennsylvania German custom in southeastern and central Pennsylvania in the 18th and 19th centuries, has its origins in ancient European weather lore, wherein a badger or sacred bear is the prognosticator as opposed to a groundhog.[6] It also bears similarities to the Pagan festival of Imbolc, the seasonal turning point of the Celtic calendar, which is celebrated on February 1 and also involves weather prognostication[7] and to St. Swithun’s Day in July.

Historical origins

An early American reference to Groundhog Day can be found in a diary entry,[8] dated February 4, 1841, of Berks County, Pennsylvania, storekeeper James Morris:

Last Tuesday, the 2nd, was Candlemas day, the day on which, according to the Germans,[9] the Groundhog peeps out of his winter quarters and if he sees his shadow he pops back for another six weeks nap, but if the day be cloudy he remains out, as the weather is to be moderate.

In Scotland the tradition may also derive from an English poem:

As the light grows longer
The cold grows stronger
If Candlemas be fair and bright
Winter will have another flight
If Candlemas be cloud and rain
Winter will be gone and not come again
A farmer should on Candlemas day
Have half his corn and half his hay
On Candlemas day if thorns hang a drop
You can be sure of a good pea crop

Happy Groundhog Day!

Many Blessings,

My Hawk Encounter

This afternoon while taking some paper out to the recycle bin at work, I turned to go back inside and saw something move from the corner of my eye. I turned to see what the movement was about and there was this gorgeous hawk just standing there in the parking lot at the back of someone’s car.

You know me.. I quickly dashed inside, grabbed the office camera and ran down the hallway as fast as I could. I ran into the office nearest where it was standing and started snapping pics. It never once moved so I thought… ok I’m heading out to the parking lot!

I eased the door open quietly, made my way around the building as quietly and slowly as possible and continued taking pics. Still the hawk never moved, so I inched out into the parking lot taking pics continuously until I was about 10 feet away. I knelt down and it flew up into a nearby tree.

I’m not one to give up easily so I made my way over as close to the tree as possible and I was still allowed to get about 15 feet from the tree before this beauty flew off and away.

What an amazing moment! I am honored to have been allowed so close and still in a bit of disbelief that I was as close as I was!

Here are some pics and a bit of info on the hawk totem:

Hawk is the messenger, the protector and the visionaries of the Air.
It holds the key to higher levels of consciousness.
This totem awakens vision and inspires a creative life purpose.

A Hawk totem is filled with responsibility
because Hawk people seek the overall view.

It reflects a greater intensity of energy within your life:
physical, emotional, mental and spiritual forces will all be strong within you.
The Red-Tail Hawk is a permanent totem — it will always be with you.

In honor of the owl that visited me this morning .. thank you for the gift 🙂

from linsdomain.com

The owl is the symbol of the feminine, the moon and the night.

The owl is associated with Athena.

An owl totem gives you the power to extract secrets.

People cannot deceive a person who has an owl totem.

Owl people can see into the darkness of others souls.
Most owl people are clairvoyant because of this ability.

Animal Visions

This morning in that space between sleep and waking I had a very vivid vision …. I’d like to share that vision with you now.

There were 2 small birds over on a nearby roof top and I couldn’t tell what they were… so I placed a couple pieces of meat on the deck railing to see if they would come get it and sure enough they moved closer … one of them was very daring and didn’t mind me being there at all and came right up to me … it was a baby bald eagle!! I took the meat and it took it right from my hand and snuggled up against me … it was so adorable. I looked right into the eyes of that baby bald eagle and I could see the fierceness and strength in it even at such a young age. The other bird stayed at a distance … I couldn’t really make out what it was, I think it was some sort of crane like bird but it too was still very young. It watched us but kept it’s distance. It seemed shy. Just found it .. it was a baby heron.

As I am playing with the baby bald eagle, a hawk flew in and landed on me! hahahahah someone had put a sweater on it and I could see it was annoyed by the sweater so I took it off and it too stayed there with me just hanging out. This was a full grown hawk not a baby one like the bald eagle.

Next a big very black raven flys in and lands on top of me and I said to the raven, “excuse me, do you mind not sitting on top of me!” lol So it moves and just hangs out with the rest of us…

Then a baby armadillo comes up to me… oh so cute! So I pick it up and it just wants to cuddle up …. every time I put it down it would come running back up to me for me to pick it back up.

Then there was a talking turtle that showed up in the vision .. I can’t remember what it said to me but it was crazy. I know it said something about love but can’t remember the exact words. I think it was something like “Remember I love you” or something along those lines. When it spoke everyone looked at me like  “what the heck” … I said yeah I know it’s weird right.. but I have heard the turtles talk before, I told them .. and at that time I had  a flash back of being at some pond  where there were lots of older turtles and they were all talking.

I was a very endearing vision… all the animals coming up to me as they did.. I’ll post their totem properties in a moment at the end of this blog for you all.

The connections I had with these animals is what stood out in my mind… how they looked at me  as if they knew me and trusted me … it was an awesome feeling. There was a bond there that I can’t really describe in words. I’ll not forget this vision and the gift that was given by it.

Here are the characteristics for each totem:

Bald Eagle –

The eagle is symbol of the zenith.  A great reminder of your own ability to soar to great heights. Eagles are messengers from heaven and are the embodiment of the spirit of the sun. Those with an Eagle totem need to have an involvement with creation; a willingness to experience extremes; a willingness to use your ability even if it means getting “scorched” a little as you fly high; a willingness to seek out your true emotions.

A demanding totem, but one that offers so much reward at the end of the journey.

Its four-toed feet remind you to stay grounded even went soaring high; Its talons remind you to grasp the things of the earth; Its sharp beak shows you when to speak, how much, and how strongly.

This totem will show you opportunities and how to ride the winds to your benefit.
Eagle people can live in the realm of the spirit yet still remain connected and balanced within the realm of the Earth.

You must become much more than you ever dreamed possible.

Raven

If a raven totem has come into our life, magic is at play.
Raven activates the energy of magic and links it to our will and intention.

With this totem, we can make great changes in our life; the ability to  take the unformed thought  and make it reality

The raven shows us how to go into the dark of our inner self and bring out the light of our true self; resolving inner conflicts which have long been buried. This is the deepest power of healing we can possess

Hawk

Hawk is the messenger, the protector and the visionaries of the Air. It holds the key to higher levels of consciousness. This totem awakens vision and inspires a creative life purpose.

A Hawk totem is filled with responsibility because Hawk people seek the overall view.
They are aware of omens and spirit messages.

A Red-Tailed Hawk Totem is special. It has direct ties to the Kundalini, the seat of primal life force. It is associated with the base chakra . If you have this Totem, you will be aware of and work towards fulfilling your soul’s purpose. It reflects a greater intensity of energy within your life:  physical, emotional, mental and spiritual forces will all be strong within you. The Red-Tail Hawk is a permanent totem — it will always be with you.

Armadillo

Armadillo wears its armor on its back, its medicine is part of its body. Its boundaries of safety are a part of its total being. Adjust your rhythms and senses and you will know what is safe and what is not.

Armadillo teaches you how to protect yourself and when to let your defenses down.

Make yourself a energy body shield using Armadillo medicine. Make a circle on a piece of paper and see it as a medicine shield. Write in the circle all the things that you want to have, experience, and give you joy. This shield will reflect what you are and what you will on an unconscious level.

When you receive an Armadillo totem, it is time to define your space. You may have trouble saying “no” and are being taken for granted. Learn to guard your personal space and allow entry only when you want to.

Turtle

Turtle is the oldest symbol for the Earth. It is the personification of goddess energy and the eternal Earth itself.

If you have a Turtle totem, you must be mindful of returning to the Earth what she has given you. Honor the creative source within you. Use water and earth energies to create a harmonious flow in your life. Ask the Earth for assistance and her riches will pour forth.

If a Turtle totem shows up in your life, slow down the pace of your life. Bigger, stronger, faster are not always the best ways to reach your goals.

Turtle is fine teacher of the art of grounding. When you learn to ground yourself to Earth’s power and strength, you place focus on your thoughts and actions and use the Earth’s limitless energies rather than your own to accomplish your will.

Turtle is the keeper of doors and one of the ways into the Faerie Realm.

Oh dear!!!! hahahahaha

Heron

A Heron and Egret totem teaches balance; the ability to progress and evolve — to walk into deeper waters without fear.

It is important for someone with a Heron and Egret totem to learn to stand on their own two feet, to become independent and self-reliant.

Heron and Egret has a strong connection to the element of Earth  and you must also be aware and cultivate this connection.   The Mother Earth is a source of strength and will help you stand strong and firm.

Heron medicine allows you to perform many tasks at the same time, keeping all in balance.
If one way doesn’t work, then another way will. Heron and Egret people seem to instinctively know this.

Heron people do not need a lot of people in their life  and they are often follow non-traditional roles. They feel no need to “keep up with the Jones.”  They stand out in their uniqueness and know how to take advantage of things and events that most people wouldn’t bother with.

You know what is best for you and you should follow that path. Be aggressive when opportunities present themselves — don’t let them get away from you.

Meditation on color will provide insight to Heron and Egret people.

Many Blessings,
Raventalker

On My Walk Today ….

Amazing what you hear when you listen…

Today is a beautiful day with deep blue skies and a nice spring breeze… so when lunch hour came around I left my desk and went for a walk. I’d like to take a moment to share with you what I heard on my walk today.

The trees speak gently and whisper this message: No matter the force of the wind, stand your ground with roots planted deep and allow the wind to pass through you … you’ll be amazed to find yourself still standing.

The yellow butterfly came to dance with me as I made my rounds. So joyfully it danced back and fourth around my path as I made my way. The sunlight bouncing off it’s yellow wings gave it a brilliant luminescent hue.  Yellow – the color associated with the sun  – giving us the gift of revitalization, strength, endurance and mental clarity. The butterfly – reminding us to dance and to fill our hearts with joy. A reminder not to take life so seriously.

Suddenly a silver dragonfly came buzzing past me and then danced upon the honeysuckle along the path. The dragonfly  – the essence of the winds of change, the messages of wisdom and enlightenment; and the communication from the elemental world.  Dragonfly medicine beckons you to seek out the parts of your habits which need changing.  Call on Dragonfly to guide you through the mists of illusion to the pathway of transformation.  Silver gives us the gift of emotional stability, removes or neutralizes negativity, aids in intuition, dreams, psychic abilities and psychic workings.

And last but certainly not least  – The dandelion – it’s seedlings drifted all over the park .. it looked as though they drifted on the breeze with purpose and knew where they were going. The dandelion has many medicinal purposes and reminds us that not only do we need to take care of not only our spiritual but also our physical bodies.

Well, I’d say that was a very insightful walk today 🙂 It’s always fun learning something new and to be outside with all Creators gift … it can’t get much better than that!

Many Blessings,

The Magic of the Spider

Ok so all night through my dreaming I had a huge spider that stayed on me… it was huge but harmless but still creeped me out …where ever I went .. it went with me. It would crawl all over my back mostly and sometimes go to the top of my head and sit there. Spiders have always creeped me out and so this was hard to deal with for most of the night. In my dreaming, I was just doing daily life kind of stuff… running errands, housework, regular work stuff and so on. The spider, no matter what I did … stayed on me though… never falling or jumping off.

I kept telling myself … spiders are good omens.. spiders are good .. get over it Holly… spiders are good…lol..

Eventually … I got over the creepy factor and was at peace with the spider being on me. I knew the spider meant me no harm and wasn’t going to bite me so at some point I just settled down inside and accepted the gift of the spider and a sense of calm and peace filled me.

So in honor of the spider that came to me in my dreaming last night, I want to share with you the magic the spider brings to your life.

A spider totem teaches you balance —
between past and future, physical and spirit, male and female.
She is strength and gentleness combined.
She awakens creative sensibilities
and reminds you that the past is always interwoven with the future.

Spiders are the keepers of the primordial alphabet
and can teach you how to write creatively.
Her body is shaped like the number 8 and she has 8 legs,
which is symbol of infinite possibilities of creation.
Her 8 legs represent the 4 winds of change and the 4 directions of the medicine wheel.

Spider’s message is that you are an infinite being who will continue
to weave patterns of life and living throughout time.
Do not fail to see the eternal plan of creation.

Those who weave magic with the written word usually have this totem.

The Messages That Come Our Way

If you have been following my blog or if you follow me on Facebook, you’ll know what’s been going with me and the master numbers (111, 222, 333, 444, 555, etc).

If you haven’t been following I’ll quickly catch you up.  For the past month every time I turn around I see the numbers 111, 222, 333 etc … these are called the master numbers .. or angelic numbers.  There is meaning for each set of numbers and it is considered to be a nudge from the angels or your spirit guides when you see these numbers. I see them several times a day .. throughout my entire day .

This morning I was woken up by an owl outside my window making the craziest of noises.. not only was it doing its normal hooting sound it would go into a rant like hoot and would sound  almost like a monkey .. it just wouldn’t stop hootin and hollarin…  I turned to see what time it was and .. yep you guessed it .. 4:44am

I got up to see if I could see the owl because if I could I was going to grab my camera and take some pics .. but it was still too dark out to see the owl. What was odd is that after I got up and looked out the window .. the hooting stopped. Not another peep from mister owl.. it was almost as if he just wanted me to wake up and see the clock.

So I went back to be for another 15 minutes… got up .. showered.. dressed.. ran upstairs to grab my phone and head off to work,, quickly looked at my phone to check the time to make sure I was on schedule.. and the time was…. 5:55 ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh LOL… welcome to my crazy world!

So Mr. Owl has inspired me to give you info on what this totem brings to you when he appears:

The Owl

The owl is the symbol of
the feminine, the moon and the night.
The owl is the bird of magic and darkness, of prophecy and wisdom.

The owl is associated with Athena.

An owl totem gives you the power to extract secrets.

Finding your animal totems

Ok in the past few days I have had several conversations about how do you find your totem animal or animals .. and how do you know which animal is yours…. soooooooooooooo I thought I might speak a few words about this.

The first thing that I want to say is … the below are my own thoughts and ways … I’m not saying this is the one and only way and I’m not saying I’m right and everyone else is wrong… all I can do is give you my perspective and speak from my own experiences… so please don’t take it personally if my view differs from yours or from what you may have been told by someone else..

ok whew .. now that the disclaimer is said and done.. we can get down to business.

Note #1 – First of all there were comments by one of my friends that she is connected to one particular animal more than any other and then she said that someone told her that her totem was something else .. her next statement was that she has never connected with that animal.

Well, I’m not saying that whoever told her what her totem was – was wrong. That totem may be around her but not yet showing itself to her – but also I want to say that … YOU are the one connecting with YOUR totem .. YOU are the one effected … YOU are the one being guided – Don’t worry so much about what others tell you – instead … if you feel strongly linked to one particular animal or 2 or 3 or whatever – then that/those are YOUR totems.

Note #2 – You may have many totems throughout your lifetime.. some stay with you for long periods of time and sometimes forever and some come and go as they are needed. Sooooooo … you meet someone and they tell you ___________ is your totem … or at least that’s what THEY see as YOUR totem … that may be true for that moment in time… but as your life progresses and you change .. your situation changes and all things around you change .. your totem may or may not also change. So don’t get yourself stuck on … “so and so said this is my totem, so that’s it .. forever”.

Note #3 – You will find your totem when you stop trying so hard to find it ..

It is not something to be forced or made to be.. when you relax and let things just be .. you will see.

You must allow your totem to come to you .. welcome it into your life and soon you will discover it has been there all along… you will see the signs and have that DUH! Moment.

When you push and push and try to force things to be … the vision becomes blurred and unclear. We all have our totems so don’t worry you are not without one just because you are unsure of what it is. You just have to relax and allow it to show itself to you.

Note #4 – Stan Hughes has a wonderful book called Medicine Seeker.. in the back of his book he has a 100+ question survey to help you find out what totems you may have. It’s a very in depth survey that may bring light to what you already know but may be suppressing.

Here’s a link to Stan’s book on Amazon
Medicine Seeker

Anyway .. I hope this has helped .. good luck

The Dragonfly

>

Well yesterday I had someone ask me to do a painting of a dragonfly so I thought today’s wisdom would be about what this totems brings to ones life.

I have always loved dragonflies so this was an easy one to paint … and this summer I have seen dragonflies everywhere … more so than years past .. they seem to be all over the place for me this year.

Dragonfly Totem

When a dragonfly lands on you, you will hear excellent news from someone far away from home.

Dragonfly is the power of light. The dragonfly inhabits two realms: air and waterand the influence of both these elements will be felt by Dragonfly people. They will be emotional and passionate during their early years (the influence of water)and more balanced with greater mental clarity and control in as they mature (the influence of air).

Dragonfly is the essence of the winds of change, the messages of wisdom and enlightenment; and the communication from the elemental world. Dragonfly medicine beckons you to seek out the parts of your habits which need changing. Call on Dragonfly to guide you through the mists of illusion to the pathway of transformation. Dragonfly brings the light and color of transformation into your life.

Many Blessings,

The Tiger

>

In honor of the Tiger that came to me in a ceremonial vision last night:

Passion, Power, Devotion

The Tiger is the symbol of darkness
and the new Moon.

When a Tiger totem enters your life,
expect new adventures.
It will awaken new passion and power.

Tiger people do their best work at night.
They are very sensual and passion people and devoted parents.
Your best work will be done at night.
Tigers are associated with water and have all the properties of the element of Water –
healing, power through gentle flow, feminine energies.

In China, there are 5 mystic tigers:
The red tiger is south, summer and fire,
the black tiger is the symbol of north, winter and water,
the blue tiger is east, spring and vegetation,
the white tiger is west, autumn and all metals,
the yellow tiger is ruler of the Earth and its energies.
