The Birth of a Story

mushroomThere’s a place where stories are born. A place so magical, so amazing… a place truly like no other you have ever seen. This place is filled with every emotion: fear and love, sorrow and pain, joy and wonder, ecstasy and fright.

Painted with every color, every shade, every hue. A place where magic waits to be born.

You’ll find yourself falling in love by a babbling brook, writhing in pain from a loss so great you can hardly breathe. You’ll find adventure on a mountain side, joy inside of a fairy ring and experience great fear in a darkened cave. There are no limits, no boundaries within this place. What you dare to dream can come to life right before your eyes. Creatures of all shapes and sizes, from every corner of the world.. from every walk of life.

Each experience, like no other. Each moment more magical than the one before. A place where the angels sing upon a soft whisper into the winds from ancient times, where devils dance within the flames of unrequited love, where the rain kisses your soul with every drop from the heavens above. Dreams, magic, adventure… they all wait for you there in the place where stories are born.

Dare to step inside this place… experience it for yourself and journey where ever your imagination takes you.

Creative Writing Experiment – continued

I thought I wold take this task on once again and offer out to my facebook friends to lend me a line or phrase and I would in turn make that line or phrase into a poem or story for them.
Here’s how the experiment continued:

1) “The dragon silently wept.”

The dragon silently wept as the world before him slipped away
The days of soaring the skies without fear would have to wait until another day

The change brought about a sadness he’d never known
A great nothingness exists now where the trees had once grown

The wind that had once roared through the mountains, trees and hills
Now at a deadly standstill

The dragon silently wept as the world before him was now unknown

2) “The mermaid glanced at the distant shore.”

The mermaid glanced at the distant shore
Remembering the days from before

A longing inside her stirred
A glimpse of someone walking and then the flight of a bird

Scales and fins kept her from the land
Knowing her walk could only be upon the ocean’s sand

Her fantasies rang of journeys beyond the water’s edge
To walk, to fly, to run … in her next life, this was her pledge.

The mermaid glanced at the distant shore
Longing for something more.

3) “ as the sky turned to a vivid shade of purple the dragonflies appeared over the horizon”

As the sky turned to a vivid shade of purple the dragonflies appeared over the horizon, I knew a message was clearly on its way. A message from where? From whom? About what? I was sure to find out soon. Oh dear, this message seems to be quite encrypted. It feels like I am to understand something, but I am at a loss. I ask, please my dragonfly friends, can you take this pen and paper and just state the obvious for I am blind to the message you bring. Suddenly a dragonfly lands upon my shoulder and I knew. It was as if a connection was finally made and we shared thoughts. I felt a peace overtake me and I settled in for the message to be delivered. What came next was unexpected and yet comforting. There wasn’t any sort of contrived message about “do this” or “do that” the message was simply of love and that I am not alone.. no matter how distant from the world I may feel.. I am not. We are all connected and that connection is love.

4) “A single snowflake landed on the window pane”

A single snowflake landed on the window pane today
I longed for the days when all I had to do was go out and play

Remembering way back when
Running with arms stretched, pretending to glide upon the wind

Spinning in circles round and round
Playing hopscotch and drawing squares upon the ground

Puddles became the ocean and old logs became the pirate’s plank
All my pennies were stored safely in a piggy bank

No worries and no cares
Comforting hugs from teddy bears

A single snowflake landed on the window pane today
So who else wants to join me and go outside to play?

I hope you enjoy this play with words 🙂

Many Blessings,

Creative Writing Experiment

I was in quite the mood today for writing so I asked my Facebook friends to post some words or phrases and I would in turn reply with a poem for them using their words.

Here’s how it all turned out:

  – We are out of toilet paper.

When one readies for a squat
and sits down upon the pot
Make sure there are toiletries at hand
For when your duty has come to an end
And that lump has finally reached its taper
You don’t want to have to shout
We’re Out of Toilet Paper!

-Because our love is……

Because our love is every lasting and true
My heart will always belong to no one but you

-Alone doesn’t mean lonely

Alone doesn’t mean lonely at all
It just means I may be available when you call

-Time has no meaning when there is love………

Time has no meaning when there is love to share
The clock may tick away but I don’t care
Time has no meaning when there is love to share

-Love has no meaning when it is not returned.

Love has no meaning when it’s not returned
Said the bitter one just after a burn
Love has meaning returned or not
Said the heart, even tho it was twisted in a knot

 -when life gets you down

When life gets you down
And your face takes on that sad old frown
Look beyond that gaping hole where you stand
And take hold a friend by the hand
They’ll help pull you from where you fell
And lift you up for the wind to fill your sail.

– nothing gold can stay

Nothing gold can stay?
What the hell is that you say?
Gold is merely a mineral from the ground
Worth only what one would pay by the pound

 -behold a new dawn

Yesterday is no more
Just a memory from before
Let there be no regrets from the days gone by
For morning shall bring a brand new sky
Forget all the pain, hurt & sadness from the past
Time ticks away far too fast
Take with you all the joyful thoughts and release the sorrow
Behold a New Dawn every tomorrow!

-The moon was shining a lovely hue of purple tonight as the lone raven perched high in the….

The moon was shining a lovely hue of purple tonight as the lone raven perched high in the trees along the river bank. For miles you could hear its caw carried by the winds. The sound brought a feeling of something quite familiar. It was as if our souls were speaking to each other. Old friends we were, although we’d surly never met. T’was strange and yet comforting, that connection from the raven down by the river bank.

This was a great writing experiment .. what fun.. can’t wait til I try it again!

Creating a Reminder Journal

Today’s wisdom is more of a self help idea for you all.

Here’s the thought:

Create a Reminder Journal

Inside the journal, create several areas, as many as you like…. for different topics and then begin filling it in. When you are having a particular hard time in your life you can go back a read all the wonderful times you’ve experienced and know that more are sure to come again. How can you feel bad when you read through all the best times of your life?

The topics should be something like:

~ Times when you experienced joy

~ Times when you felt loved

~ Times when you felt accomplished

~ Times when you felt proud

~ Times when you felt on top of the world

~ Times when you laughed yourself silly

~ Times you cried tears of happiness

~ Times when you felt guided

~ Times when you felt like you helped

~ Times when you felt blessed

and you can go on and on creating as many “POSITIVE” topics as you like…. what a great way to lift yourself up when you are feeling low.

Many Blessings,

The Magic of the Spider

Ok so all night through my dreaming I had a huge spider that stayed on me… it was huge but harmless but still creeped me out …where ever I went .. it went with me. It would crawl all over my back mostly and sometimes go to the top of my head and sit there. Spiders have always creeped me out and so this was hard to deal with for most of the night. In my dreaming, I was just doing daily life kind of stuff… running errands, housework, regular work stuff and so on. The spider, no matter what I did … stayed on me though… never falling or jumping off.

I kept telling myself … spiders are good omens.. spiders are good .. get over it Holly… spiders are good…lol..

Eventually … I got over the creepy factor and was at peace with the spider being on me. I knew the spider meant me no harm and wasn’t going to bite me so at some point I just settled down inside and accepted the gift of the spider and a sense of calm and peace filled me.

So in honor of the spider that came to me in my dreaming last night, I want to share with you the magic the spider brings to your life.

A spider totem teaches you balance —
between past and future, physical and spirit, male and female.
She is strength and gentleness combined.
She awakens creative sensibilities
and reminds you that the past is always interwoven with the future.

Spiders are the keepers of the primordial alphabet
and can teach you how to write creatively.
Her body is shaped like the number 8 and she has 8 legs,
which is symbol of infinite possibilities of creation.
Her 8 legs represent the 4 winds of change and the 4 directions of the medicine wheel.

Spider’s message is that you are an infinite being who will continue
to weave patterns of life and living throughout time.
Do not fail to see the eternal plan of creation.

Those who weave magic with the written word usually have this totem.
