Expressing Our Emotions

Tears are cleansing and healing. We have to get out of  the mindset of thinking that tears mean broken.  We cry for all kinds of reasons and as a woman sometimes I will cry and have absolutely no idea why I am crying. Tears are a release of all kinds of emotional build up. Sadness isn’t the only emotion that causes tears… please remember that and allow yourself and others to express themselves without assuming that anything is broken.

The Roller Coaster of Change

IMG_4174I have been through so many life changes, I think I must be getting use to it. In times past I would fight the change and battle to keep my world from changing whether it was good for me or not. Today I sit here thinking about how I have changed through all of these changes. I am much more calm, there seems to be a knowing growing inside me that tells me that once the storm has passed, life will open up to new surprises. Not knowing what those surprises will be doesn’t even stress me out like they use to. I think I’m looking forward to the unknown.. not having everything perfectly mapped out. Through all the battles I have been through, I think I have finally figured out how to find inner calmness. There may be a storm all around me of chaos and change but inside, I have control and staying calm inside while I pass through these troubling times, is a reward all on its own. Okay so if I’m honest, I’m not always so calm. My emotions are heightened and at the drop of a pin I might start crying uncontrollably or if someone asks me what’s going on or if someone comes up and gives me a hug, or looks at me with that compassionate look. I have to allow myself time to grieve the loss and allow the tears to cleanse my spirit.

The tears don’t mean I’m broken, they mean I am healing. So if you see me crying, know that I am on the mend for better days ahead.

Our Connection to the Rain

There certainly is something special about the rain… don’t ya think?

Feeling quite artistic this morning. Admiring the beauty that magically comes after the rain.

What is it about the rain that makes us feel so much more deeply? Could it be water being associated with our emotion and rain drops resembling tears?

The rain is said to soothe and lull us to sleep with its rhythmic sounds. There is a hush that comes over the Earth as the rain begins to fall and the only sound is that of the rain pounding against your shelter, your own heartbeat and your breathing.

Maybe it’s how the rain slows us down, physically and mentally. We certainly slow our pace and think before we rush out into it. Sometimes we even stay put and wait it out. It’s the perfect time to curl up in favorite place to read, watch a movie or just hang out with your favorite person or pet.

There certainly is something special about the rain… don’t ya think?

Here are some red roses on their last days, fading with the times, soon to give way to it’s life so another can be born.

Emotion and Clarity

WP_20140627_002Water is a symbol of emotion, so take this image as an example of what happens when we let our emotions take over in too many places in our lives.

Those spaces of clarity become less and much smaller while the emotions take over our entire lives. Put those emotions in their place so that we can have more clarity in all areas of our lives.

It’s not going to be an easy task. It will have to be something to strive for daily, especially if you are anything like me and experience intense emotions.

Sigh… good luck 🙂

Change Your Focus

spring bloomsNot every day can be lollipops and giggles… but no matter what life is throwing at you,  there is beauty to be seen. The negativity in a day is in reality just a small part of our life. It will pass soon and we will look back and wonder why we stressed so much over that tiny little moment of our lives. During those moments of stress, hardship and despair it’s extremely difficult to see anything other … but if we can manage if even for a moment to change our focus … we may be able to also gain some perspective on that moment.

Seeing obstacles for what they instead of how they make us feel at that moment…  feelings of dread, fear, sorrow, anger, etc  dissipate more quickly and the situation becomes more manageable.

How to do this?

Stay aware. Be open to seeing every thing in life with more than one point of view. Make a conscience effort daily to integrate this way of seeing into your life. Take each moment as it comes and if possible find a way to step back from that moment that brings you such stress and anxiety to reflect on what is real and what is made up with emotions.

Daily Insight – Holding It All In

ace of waterSo often we find ourselves holding back our emotions. We keep locked inside ourselves, our truest feelings… leaving them unsaid. We must find a way to let go of the fear of what others will say, how they will react or what they will think and let our true selves be known.

It does us no good to hold all of that inside. Find a way and let it go.

Not an easy task and something I’m sure we will have to remind ourselves to do every day .. but in the end I feel that everyone will be much happier.

Conquering Your Fear

A vision from one of my morning meditations:

At some point, what seems to me now like it may have been in the middle of this mornings meditation, I found myself on a paved road, but the center of the road was flooded with water and had broken away.  The edges of the road were jagged and at first I stood there looking at it, knowing I needed to make it to the other side but how?

I examined the road and what parts were left that were still paved and I began walking on the edge to try and make it over to the other side. Suddenly water flowed over the side I was on and now there was no paved edging to walk on. If I was going to make it to the other side I would have to get wet. I would have to fully immerse myself into the water and through my own efforts make my way to the other side.

Water is a symbol of emotions. Good and bad (all emotions). So in this vision, you can see I have a path to follow but my emotions seem to have blocked my way. In fear of facing these emotions, I tried to navigate around them but Spirit took away that possibility, forcing me to make the choice of standing still and not moving forward, running the other way, or facing my fears and facing my emotions by pushing through them.

I stood on the edge of that pavement only for a moment before I realized what was needed. With a little hesitation and one big gulp of gumption.. I jumped right into the water and swam my way across. It turns out I was afraid of nothing. I did not drown, I did not even struggle .. I swam straight across with no trouble at all. When I got to the other side… crawled upon the pavement and looked back at where I had just come from…. I smiled and giggled just a little. What on Earth was I so worried about? I had let my fears stop me from moving forward. I allowed silly thoughts I made up in my own mind to be “Oh this can’t be good”… and I allowed my progress to be halted for a moment. It is true that we are our own worst enemies at times.  It is so easy to convince ourselves of just about anything. Be careful of what you allow yourself to believe. Trust yourself and your abilities. Know that you have it within you to make it through whatever life throws in your direction.

It is smart to think before you leap, just don’t let it stop you from moving forward.

Daily Insight: Powers of the Moon

Today I pull the Moon card from the Vision Quest Deck and how fitting is it that at the end of this week we have a Blue Moon!! Yep, that’s right a Blue Moon! No, the moon won’t really be blue, as in the color blue… a Blue Moon is when we have 2 full moons in 1 month.. the Blue Moon is the second full moon of that month. They don’t happen very often, so that’s why the phrase “once in a blue moon”.

Understanding the moon cycles and the effects they have on us can help in many ways. Paying attention to when the moon is full or new is a start. You will notice how people change during these times. It’s not just the full moon that effects us… all phases of the moon have different effects on every person. When you keep track of the phases and watch the people around you.. you will begin to see how indeed the phases do take their toll.

Understanding how the phases effect you are even better. If you tend to become more emotional during a specific phase, you can then alter your thoughts and emotions a little bit better knowing that part of what you are feeling has more to do with the moon phase than anything else going on at that moment. Same goes if you tend to get happier, angrier, quieter or whatever the mood. Knowing why can help you far more than one might think. It allows you to step away from your emotions and see more clearly what’s really going and why you feel the way you feel so intensely.

As the moon cycles around the Earth and moves closer an further away, we know that the ocean is effected and the ocean is what?? WATER! What are we made up of??? Approximately 60% of water and our brain consists of 70% water.. and we wonder how on Earth the moon effects us so drastically… LOL

There is magic to be found in all things… the Moon, just another giant sphere of Magic!

Take the time to understand it, get to know it and then go with the flow of it!

Daily Insight – The Energy of Emotions

Be careful not to cling to any emotion… allow yourself to experience emotion without fear of that emotion and without clinging to that emotion.

For instance: When one is happy, you want to hold on to that feeling for as long as you can. You push that moment into being and in doing so you also create a fear of loss with that emotion. This blocks energy from flowing freely through you and all times we need that energy flowing.

Allow happy moments to come and go at their own natural pace. The same is said for all other emotions. When you allow fear to take over you allow road blocks in your own life-spring of energy.

It is hard to let go of that control. We want so badly to keep happiness in our lives, but think about this for a moment. If you are clinging to one particular happy moment … you are blocking other emotions from flowing through you. The same again is said for other emotions…. Anger, hatred, sadness, etc.  Live in this moment .. right here .. right now.

What is done is done.. holding on to past emotions is pointless and helps no one.

Many Blessings,

Daily Insight – Oct. 4

Today’s Card – Six of Water – Pleasure

This card is all about emotion, showing us bowls of water flowing into one another. This tells us when we allow life to flow through us, we are able to gain balance. It is when we try to hold on to emotions that things get all out of whack.

Allow yourself to enjoy life on all levels. Let go of mental and emotional tensions that may be holding you back. So much more is possible when you are happy. Bad feelings get us down and make even the smallest of tasks more complicated then they need to be.

When you can let go.. and allow yourself to relax, your life force regains its equilibrium and things come into your life in a more calm, nourishing way.

Remember to honor and treat yourself well and in doing so you will treat others likewise.

Many Blessings on your journey,
Raventalker
