Tormenting Ourselves

Why do we torment ourselves? What does it accomplish? We are indeed our own worst enemy. We allow unhealthy thoughts to take up space in our minds. When we focus on these negative thoughts we begin to manifest them. It’s time to change your mind and move into positive thinking!

Staying Positive

Spirit urges us to stay positive. When life brings you worry, stress and pain… it is more needed than ever to try and keep your thoughts positive. Thoughts are energy, so, negative thoughts and negative energy and positive thoughts are positive energy. We have enough negative energy in our lives so we need to do whatever we can to add more positive energy to it and bring it back into balance.

Living in the Lie We Tell Ourselves

STOP Settling – Create the Life You Want!

I have found myself in such a negative space all weekend and have wasted an entire long holiday weekend in that space. Why? For what reason? I know how easy it is to slide into that space and how hard it is to get out of it once you are there… but if you really don;t want to be there… you can find your way out and back into a more positive space. You just have to want it ! It’s all in your head, all those things that drag you into that negative space. So that is where you have to start… within your own thoughts and change those to something more positive. That is where we begin changing our lives for the better!

Finding Inner Peace

You have to start with letting go of the thoughts in your head that make you sad, hurt angry and upset. I know it is easier said than done but, if you cannot change these things then dwelling on them does not change the situation and it solves nothing. Holding on to these disruption thoughts only makes you sick and robs you of your inner peace.

Daily Insight- Full & Empty

So I’m sitting here in the office and I keep feeling drawn to post some daily wisdom for the day. I pull out my cards.. shuffle.. shuffle.. shuffle… Two cards pop out if the deck together. I flip them over and this is what I saw:

Three of Water – Fullness
Enjoy the fruits of your labor. Make no rules of what should happen next.. enjoy what is offered and stay open for new surprises.

Seven of Earth – Depletion
Expecting something increases our chances of disappointment. Stay in the moment, live in the now. Allow yourself time to rest and be mindful not to project any negative thinking into the future.

Together they show you how you can be full and next minute depleted of all. Be careful that you remain in the moment and take that time to enjoy all the fruits of your labor.. even the tiniest tomato can be as savory as a big plump one… so enjoy what is offered and don’t throw away that fullness with expectations of what happens next…. allow “next” to come on its own time and for now.. enjoy the life before you.

Daily Insight – YOU DESERVE IT!

Son of Earth  – It’s ok to be proud of yourself for your accomplishments … the size of the endeavor doesn’t matter. It’s time to appreciate yourself and the work you have done, the miles you have walked, the storms you have weathered, the harvests that you have gathered, and the seeds that you have planted and tended.

Six of Air – Clarity  – The more you understand and know yourself … the clearer your insights. Get to know your own inner truths. When the battle inside you stops, harmony and wisdom prevail. Knowing yourself gives you inner peace, security and trust.

Five of Earth – Insecurity – Stop abusing yourself! Look at yourself with love and understanding… there is no need to be so harsh with yourself. Where does this negative thinking come from? It’s not needed in your life. Thinking poorly of yourself slows your growth and holds you in a miserable loop of negativity. Stop it! Your are worth love and kindness. Treat yourself how you treat others. Stop beating yourself up. Inject positive thinking into yourself and allow yourself some happiness…. some love and kindness. YOU ARE WORTH IT!

Shifting Your Thoughts

We all find ourselves in that negative zone from time to time. Some far more than others. Getting out of that negative space often seems like a task that is larger than life, larger than you feel like you can handle at that moment.

It’s as hard as you allow it to be. I know you hate that answer but it’s true. My words are easy to say and easy to type but I know how difficult it feels in real life. I have been in that negative space far more often than I would like to admit.

The question of the day is: How do you get out of that negative space and into a more positive one?

By shifting your thoughts from whatever it is that put you in that ugly space to begin with. Is it easy? Yes and No. It’s something that will take some serious work on your behalf. You will have to focus your thoughts and energy to something else…. something that doesn’t relate what so ever to those negative thoughts. The further from that negative monster that put you into that space.. the better!

Find something to do. Busy yourself with something that will make you feel good. Whether it is something for another or something productive for yourself or whatever… find something physical to focus your energy and thoughts on.

Take some reflection time to focus and remember all the best moments of your life. Fond memories always put a smile on my face and help me move forward.

When we find ourselves in that negative pit… we dwell on all things negative and bring a dark and dreary cloud over ourselves that does not have to be there. Focusing so much on those negative thoughts doesn’t make it go away, it doesn’t make you or anyone around you feel good, it doesn’t help or improve your life in any way at all. All it does is prolong the negative darkness that is there.

Shift your thoughts and you’ll be asking yourself why on Earth you spent any time at all in that negative space.

The World Inside Our Heads

Spirit guides me this morning to talk about something we have all been guilty of doing to some extent and at some point in our lives.

This would be “making up situations in our own heads”. Tell me you haven’t done this… hahahahaha we all have in some way .. some more drastic and elaborate than others. We convince ourselves of things going on in our lives that are not really happening.  We make people and situations into something they are not.

Sometimes we can turn people and situations into things we wish they were and sometimes we go the whole dooms days route and convince ourselves of the worst. We do this instead of allowing things to be just what they are.

People:
A friend doesn’t “appear” to be as upset as you are about something going on in your lives… so you tell yourself they just don’t care. Maybe they don’t show their emotions in the same way. You have no idea what really may be going on internally with your friend … so be careful not to compare their reaction with yours.

In a relationship  – one might show their affections outwardly and emotionally while the other may show theirs in some other way.  It does not mean the other does not care about you. You have your way and they have theirs.

In our minds we have convinced ourselves that our friend or partner must not care … when this may or may not even be the truth.

Situations: 

The waters of life get rough and we seem to be having a hard time and not so much luck. Some then cook up these scenarios in their heads that the whole world is suddenly against them. Someone must be wishing them bad luck or someone is working against them.. or .. or.. or.. it’s all dooms day, drama and misery. So we have hit a rough patch .. your attitude and the way you handle yourself during this time is part of what determines how long this rough patch lasts. Sometimes we put ourselves through far more misery than is needed.

We don’t always make up dooms day situations .. we also make up “better than real life” situations. I have seen so many people over the years do this. Most often done with relationships or well.. hopeful relationships. If you haven’t done this yourself, I am betting that you know someone who has! They find themselves in a new relationship with someone that is not so truthful and honest or maybe just not a good match for the other person..

Here are some of things you may recognize:

They change who they are to be compatible with the other person.. not really being who they are.. this never lasts long term.

The other person in the relationship has shown some unsteadiness. It’s obvious to everyone… even you… you excuse it away… something else happens that’s not so great.. again you excuse it away… not wanting to accept the truth. Wanting this person to be the one … you make excuse after excuse until sooner or later you both run out of excuses!

How much pain and hardship would we have saved everyone if at first we just allowed things to be as they were and accepted that fact?

So there you .. a bit of food for thought for today.

Balance of the Good and the Bad

Today is a good day for me so it’s easy to say that we should take each day as it comes… look beyond the trauma, the stress, the pain and the sorrow and hold your focus on the horizon for the storms never last forever .. they move on quickly (tho it may not seem so) just like the weather.

These are easy words today … because for me at the moment anyway .. the weather is good. But, I have been through many storms and as I reflect back on those times… I have to say that it was keeping my focus on the horizon that got me through each moment of that storm.

In general I am a very positive person.. always looking at the good in everything. That character trait in me has often been the very thing that has gotten me mixed right into the middle of some really bad storms. My eyes, so focused on the positive and the good … that I completely overlooked the bad crap that was standing right in front of me.

So, in saying that … I have to say that we need to find a good balance between the two.

You can’t live your life always looking for that negative aspect of everyone and everything .. for thats all that your world will become.. one giant heap of negative CRAP! You also can’t just look at the positive in everyone and everything … because you will still find yourself deep in the crap.  But it would be unexpected crap and sometimes that can tear your world farther apart than always expecting the worst.

BALANCE is the key… I’m still working on that, myself.

It’s certainly not an easy task.. and I don’t have any clever wisdom that will suddenly make it all come into play…. but what I do know is that as long as you are aware of your own view of the world (yours and the world around you) then at least you are working on it and that is the first step forward.

Remember, you can’t just stop at acknowledgement … it has to be an on going task within yourself to see the whole picture every moment of every day.

Sounds exhausting, I know!

But really what we are talking about here is being awake and aware in this moment.. and this one.. and this one … and the next ..
