Dandelion Dreams

dandelionDandelion wishes and sunset dreams
Morning dew sparkling on the grass as the early light beams

A soft hush fills the air
As a breeze runs it’s fingers through my hair

The Meadowlark awakens a song within
Oh sweet melody… where have you been?

The times are changing at last
Join me as I say goodbye to the past

A great teacher it has been
I let go with a happy heart and cheerful grin

What has been done is done
No need to regret the web that has been spun

We start today with an outlook that’s brand new
Learning to love the ever growing spirit that lives inside you.

Dandelion wishes and sunset dreams
Loving life and all that it means!

Dandelion wishes and sunset dreams!

Some info about the Dandelion:
(from about.com)
Dandelion is an herb that is beneficial from root to blossom. It is one of the most versatile and important herbs to learn about.

Dandelion is a multi-purpose herb. All parts of it are useful. From early spring, when the new leaves are steamed and eaten as a potherb, through the summer, the leaves and blossoms are harvested. In the fall, the roots are pulled after a frost. Even the white, milky sap is used as an effective wart remover. Dandelion is a diuretic that also contains potassium. It has been used as a liver tonic. Regular harvesting will keep the dandelion from going to seed and sowing itself. This will keep the spread of cultivated dandelions out of your lawn. No matter what use you want dandelion for, this easy growing plant is going to be a wonderful addition to your herbal garden.

A Moment of Perfection!

Perfection!

A thought came to mind yesterday and I told myself I should have written it down at that very moment before it got lost in shadows of my brain. I got busy and distracted and of course did not write it down but I do remember the basis of the thought.. it was only the exact phrasing that escapes me now. “The world is made up of a beautiful variety of imperfections… I consider myself just a tiny part of those imperfections.”

Late last night as my husband was looking through the lampwork beads he had been creating, I am once again confronted with this concept of what’s perfect and what’s not. What he thought was an imperfect bead was absolutely beautiful to me.. one of my all time favorites so far that he had made. He insisted it wasn’t usable because it wasn’t perfect… but to me … it was already perfect… perfectly beautiful.

This morning as I ponder more on this thought of perfection, a crow caws in the distance and I as turn to search from where the voice came… the sun is just peeking up from the hillside, the dew on the grass sparkles like little diamonds,  the birds patiently wait with their song in the nearby  trees as I top off the feeders, a cool breeze fills my senses with the refreshing smell of Spring and a smile takes shape from the inside out. In that perfect moment I knew. So I said, Yes Spirit … I understand now what I need to write about today.

Have a look around at the trees… so many shapes, sizes, color and species… who is to say which may be the perfect one. Further more, why does one even have to be perfect. To me, they are all perfect… they are all trees and within each one lies it’s very own distinct beauty.

dandelion….. and take a look at this dandelion.. nearly half it’s seed heads are gone… one dangles there to the side ready to take off with the slightest breeze…. is it perfect? YES, yes it is! It is as perfect a dandelion as any dandelion could be. Would a small child pass it up and not take a very big deep breath and blow with all their heart and soul in hopes for their wishes to come true? NOPE! So, yes, that dandelion is perfect.. no matter what it looks like … it is still a wish waiting to be made. PERFECTION in all it’s glory!

Take a look at the world for what it has to give and not how you think it should look. Now what do you see?

With each step closer the beauty is simply magnified.

Take time to truly see others for the beauty within. It will be well worth the effort.

April Full Moon

nearly full moonThis is a good time to work on magic related to new beginnings.

The April Full Moon is known as the Seed Moon, Egg, Grass, or Wind Moon. It signals a time of fertility, growth, and wisdom. This is the time to sow the seeds of Magic. If you are planting a magical garden, you want to get out there now and put things into the Earth. This is the time to move from the planning phase into action. If you want to get pregnant, this is a great time to go for it. Fertility is in the air. It’s also a great time to empower some seeds to both help them grow and to do Earth magic.

It’s the time to stop planning, and start doing. Take all those ideas you’ve had brewing for the past couple of months, and make them come to fruition.

Don’t forget to set out your crystals and special tools so that they can absorb some of that full moon magic.

Trust Yourself

hawkTrusting others is one thing but when it comes to trusting yourself…. how well do you do?

If you’ve had trouble trusting yourself.. you’re definitely not alone. That seed of doubt lives within us all … who planted it there? I have no idea! But is sure would be nice to get rid of it!

Whether is comes to following our intuition or matters of the heart … many of us struggle with trusting that thing that stirs inside us. Our own inner guide. Over the years I have let go of that fear of “what if I’m wrong” but still it sometimes shows it’s ugly head. It’s a battle within, daily to trust what is felt and what our brain or heart wants us to feel or know.

Often when we follow that inner guide… we are guided is a good direction. I can’t remember ever following my intuition and it ending up wrong. I do recall often .. ignoring my intuition and then sit there face palmed asking myself .. why oh why didn’t I do what I already knew to do!!!

Start by trusting things you feel are small and as you start trusting yourself, you’ll find yourself trusting that guide more and more. Personally, I am still working on my own trust … but I can tell you it is well worth it. When I follow my guide and the sun shines bright on a path less complicated by my doubt … I smile from within and am encouraged all the more to continue building that trust within myself.

It’s not personal…. or is it?

holly funny greyRecently the office managers where I work have started Monday morning critique meetings and the one thing they keep stressing is “Don’t take it personal”. They have been going around the room asking various job related questions of each person and then go on to talk about what you could be doing better. Fair enough.. everyone has room for improvement … always. What I don’t get is this phrase they keep stressing ” it’s not personal / don’t take it personal”.

If I am not taking my job personal then I am just a faceless, nameless body sitting behind a desk churning out tasks. As long as the task gets done, (since I’m not taking it personal) then all should be just fine. Whether or not the task was completed in a well done manner or with any efficiency is mute … the task is complete. End of story.

Now, if I were to take my job personally then I am going to ensure that in all stages of my work …it is done efficiently and with the best care possible because how I do my job reflects directly back on me.

Does this make sense to anyone else? …. Or am I the only one who sees it this way?

It is not in my nature to just do a job for the sake of completing a task. What IS is my nature is taking on any and all tasks that come my way and doing them to the best of my ability. I believe that what we get out of something depends greatly on what we put into it.

It’s not personal?

For me it is very personal! For me, everything I do in life is a reflection of who I am. How I do a job is just one of the many things that is a part of my daily routine. Oh, and might I add … when it comes to our jobs or at least mine… a HUGE part of our lives is spent doing this task… how are we not to take it personally?

Well that’s my two cents and my rant of the day… back to your regularly scheduled reading.

Life Mysteries

fairy dream catcherI have felt drawn for the past couple of days to go back through some archives to find a radio show reading that was done for me a couple of years ago. It felt like there was some information in that reading that I needed to hear again. When I found the archive I realized that it was  almost exactly 2 years ago, April 12, 2011.  How odd is that? Being that long ago I remember some things that had been said during the reading .. more or less I remember subject matter but not the details. I sat and listened to the entire show waiting for my part to come up. One thing that stood out for me was something about listening to fairy music t open a door. Sooooooooooooooooo …. I google searched fairy music and the first artist that struck me was Priscilla Hernadez .. I then did an Amazon search to see what albums she had available to download. Once I found her .. I was pretty clear which album I would buy. The one that was released on  MY BIRTHDAY!  Ok here’s another odd one.. it was released on my birthday in 2011.. the same year as the reading but a few months AFTER the reading.

So here I am listening to the album… telling you guys my story… waiting for the chapters to unfold.

What a fun and mysterious life we live!

The Storm

coming stormWhen a storm is approaching … focusing upon the clouds won’t stop or slow the storm. In fact … by focusing on the storm alone you ensure that you are fully enveloped within it. Shift your focus to the light on the other side of the storm and before you know it that storm will have come and gone leaving far less devastation in its path.

Missing Details

4 leaf cloverOkay, so here’s a little lesson learned for me today!

I am taking in the morning as I step outside the back door of the office and notice the clover are growing really tall. A four leaf clover stands out there all on it’s own waving hello to me. I, with my camera in hand, focus upon the clover and take a couple of good shots. I then reach down and pull up the clover to add to my collection and continue to search to see if I can find any more. I ended up finding 12 more four leaf clovers. I go back inside … sit down at my computer and reach around to take the sd card from my camera to download the photos. Heavy sigh…. the sd card is already in my computer… meaning that  it was never even in my camera and that photo opp with the four leaf clover that I already plucked from the Earth is now gone!

Had I paid better attention to the finer details … I wouldn’t have had to go back out in search of another clover. You see, every time I snapped a photo a little message popped up on the screen telling me no card was inside… but me being so focused on the four leaf clover and what I would blog about to use it as the main subject…. I didn’t even “SEE” that message!

Sometimes we cause ourselves extra work simply because we didn’t take the time to check ALL the details.

The Wolf Spirit

wolf and raven paintingI had a wolf pup visit me last night in dream state. A new guardian for me. I have had wolf guides for a very long time now. This visitor was a new one … he was a mix of black and white in color with blue eyes.. very sweet and protective. In dream state I was a mostly white wolf and was told that the coloring in this case had to do with progression as the wolf spirit. A full white wolf was a 100% progression as the wolf spirit. I wasn’t all white, I still had some other colors in my coat but getting there 🙂 .. the new pup was mostly black but with some parts very white … it was a nice, comforting visit in my sleep.

So in honor of the wolf who showed up in my dreams last night … here’s some info on the wolf totem: (info below from birdclan.org)

Wolf is the pathfinder, the forerunner of new ideas who returns to the clan to teach and share medicine. Wolf takes one mate for life and is loyal like Dog. If you were to keep company with Wolves, you would find an enormous sense of family within the pack, as well as a strong individualistic urge, and they live by carefully defined rules and rituals. They are friendly, social, and highly intelligent.

Wolves are the epitome of the wild spirit.

The senses of Wolf are very keen, and the moon is its power ally. The moon is the symbol for psychic energy, or the unconscious that holds the secrets of knowledge and wisdom. Baying at the moon may be an indication of Wolf’s desire to connect with new ideas which are just below the surface of consciousness.

Wolf would not come to you unless you requested the appearance of the tribe’s greatest teacher. The wolf teaches you to know who you are and to develop strength, confidence and surety in that so that you do not have to demonstrate and prove yourself at all.

Wolves have a complex communication system – using body language. Usually those with wolf totems are very expressive with hands, posture, face or in some other manner. If you have difficulty conveying your moods and ideas to others, meditate and study the wolf. It will teach you how to empower your verbal communications with appropriate body language.

Wolf medicine empowers the teacher within us all to come forth and aid the children of Earth in understanding the Great Mystery and life. As you feel Wolf coming alive within you, you may wish to share your knowledge by writing or lecturing on information that will help others better understand their uniqueness or path in life. It is in the sharing of great truths that the consciousness of humanity will attain new heights.

Traditionally, someone with Wolf Medicine has a strong sense of self, and communicates well through subtle changes in voice inflection and body movements. They often find new solutions to problems while providing stability and support that one normally associates with a family structure.

Change Your Focus

spring bloomsNot every day can be lollipops and giggles… but no matter what life is throwing at you,  there is beauty to be seen. The negativity in a day is in reality just a small part of our life. It will pass soon and we will look back and wonder why we stressed so much over that tiny little moment of our lives. During those moments of stress, hardship and despair it’s extremely difficult to see anything other … but if we can manage if even for a moment to change our focus … we may be able to also gain some perspective on that moment.

Seeing obstacles for what they instead of how they make us feel at that moment…  feelings of dread, fear, sorrow, anger, etc  dissipate more quickly and the situation becomes more manageable.

How to do this?

Stay aware. Be open to seeing every thing in life with more than one point of view. Make a conscience effort daily to integrate this way of seeing into your life. Take each moment as it comes and if possible find a way to step back from that moment that brings you such stress and anxiety to reflect on what is real and what is made up with emotions.

Daily Insight – LOL Moments

goldfinchThis morning I was feeling very rushed and tense… I got as much work done as I could until the printers ran out of toner and not a single box left in the office to replace it so that I could stay on this productive sprint of Monday morning madness.

With a heavy sigh, I called in the toner order, made myself a bowl of oatmeal and thought … I’ll just see what Spirit has for us today and post today’s insight. I shuffle my cards for several minutes and then a handful of cards flew out of my hand… yeah well that was either Spirit saying I had shuffled long enough or I’m really crap at shuffling cards.. lol.. you decide!

Right away when I picked up this batch of cards I knew it was the top one that I would be talking about .. so I picked up the cards and turned over the top card to see what it was. Today’s insight would be about …… drum roll please…. INSIGHT! HA! HA!

I sat there and giggled to myself .. now how to word this subject line? Hmmmmm

So what’s today’s “insight” really about? Just that .. being able to step back and look at the situation from different points of view. Insight comes from seeing more than just one side of things… it comes from understanding yourself and the world you live in. It comes from a change in perspective.

Today I believe that Spirit was telling me not to stress so much … take a moment to laugh and learn how to enjoy the day.

Working Out Lampwork

beads1marbles1My husband and I have recently taken on a new hobby… Lampwork!

We’ve enjoyed many hobbies over the last few  years…. painting, weaving, stained glass … and now lampwork.

We did a lot of research online .. ok so my hubby did most of the research but I did read everything he sent me. Eventually we bit the bullet and started buying the equipment  so we could actually give it a try. We tried to find someone locally to give us a class but that seemed impossible.. as everyone that we found didn’t seem too interested in teaching.

Youtube videos have been our main source of learning what to do and what it should look like as we do it. Above you’ll see the results of our very first weekend teaching ourselves this new hobby. Despite having lots of pieces fail, mandrels break, beads burst, shapes not coming out just right and marbles falling all over the place catching things on fire… we are getting the hang of it.

I can’t wait to learn more and look forward to becoming better. My goal is to get to the point where I can make pendents and other jewelry pieces. I no where close to that point now.. but I’m well on my way.

Oh yeah … you only pick up the wrong end of a glass rod once! Many Blessings, Raventalker
