spring

1st Day of Spring!

This morning I thought I’d take a quick walk around the lake so I got up while it was still very dark outside and made my way over to Radnor Lake. I arrived about 30 minutes before the sunrise so I was able to capture some great photos of the 1st Day of Spring this year.

A Time of New Beginnings.

Spring is the birth of life after after the long (and this year’s harsh) winter. The Earth comes alive with the buzz and hum of new growth and new life. Soon the landscape will be painted with colors from every spectrum. The air will be filled with all kinds of lovely fragrances and the sun will warm us all.

Here are the photos from this morning’s sunrise photoshoot. Click on the images to see the larger view.

What’s to Come….

IMG_8573  We are smack dab in the middle of winter and outside look bleak while the Earth continues to rest for the remainder of winter. It won’t be long and she will awake with much to do. Flowers to grow, trees to bud, animals to birth and life to nourish.

Today is one of those crazy Tennessee days where it’s nearly 60 degrees, mid-January…. I have stepped outside with my camera several times in hope to click something spectacular but I’ve not found much at all to focus on.

As I stepped outside and was leaning against the railing I spotted this little downy feather in one of the shrubs, it was waving back and fourth with the breeze. It is a reminder that although today might not bring me the things I hoped…. there is still that… HOPE. I smiled at the little feather, so small and delicate there waving at me. So tiny and yes it still got my attention and I am thankful for the reminder that there is always more to come. More to look forward to and more to live for.

IMG_8576I  made my way back around to the other side of the building, about to step back inside to get back to work when I noticed this bird nest in a little tree up on the hill. I stepped up to take a couple of shots and again smiled at the thought that in a few shorts month this nest might be home to a new family, creating new life. I’ll definitely keep my eyes on this one and with any luck we’ll all get to witness the miracle of life in the Spring.

So much to look forward to.

Don’t waste your time energy thinking about the things you don’t have… instead shift your focus on what’s to come, life will be so much more fun and enjoyable with that new perspective.

Many Blessings,

A Moment of Perfection!

Perfection!

A thought came to mind yesterday and I told myself I should have written it down at that very moment before it got lost in shadows of my brain. I got busy and distracted and of course did not write it down but I do remember the basis of the thought.. it was only the exact phrasing that escapes me now. “The world is made up of a beautiful variety of imperfections… I consider myself just a tiny part of those imperfections.”

Late last night as my husband was looking through the lampwork beads he had been creating, I am once again confronted with this concept of what’s perfect and what’s not. What he thought was an imperfect bead was absolutely beautiful to me.. one of my all time favorites so far that he had made. He insisted it wasn’t usable because it wasn’t perfect… but to me … it was already perfect… perfectly beautiful.

This morning as I ponder more on this thought of perfection, a crow caws in the distance and I as turn to search from where the voice came… the sun is just peeking up from the hillside, the dew on the grass sparkles like little diamonds,  the birds patiently wait with their song in the nearby  trees as I top off the feeders, a cool breeze fills my senses with the refreshing smell of Spring and a smile takes shape from the inside out. In that perfect moment I knew. So I said, Yes Spirit … I understand now what I need to write about today.

Have a look around at the trees… so many shapes, sizes, color and species… who is to say which may be the perfect one. Further more, why does one even have to be perfect. To me, they are all perfect… they are all trees and within each one lies it’s very own distinct beauty.

dandelion….. and take a look at this dandelion.. nearly half it’s seed heads are gone… one dangles there to the side ready to take off with the slightest breeze…. is it perfect? YES, yes it is! It is as perfect a dandelion as any dandelion could be. Would a small child pass it up and not take a very big deep breath and blow with all their heart and soul in hopes for their wishes to come true? NOPE! So, yes, that dandelion is perfect.. no matter what it looks like … it is still a wish waiting to be made. PERFECTION in all it’s glory!

Take a look at the world for what it has to give and not how you think it should look. Now what do you see?

With each step closer the beauty is simply magnified.

Take time to truly see others for the beauty within. It will be well worth the effort.

March Full Moon

nearly full moonThe March Full Moon is known by many names: The Chaste Moon,  the Seed or Worm Moon, the Crow Moon, Full Crust Moon, The Full Sap Moon or the Lenten Moon.

As the temperature begins to warm and the ground begins to thaw, earthworm casts appear, heralding the return of the robins. The more northern tribes knew this Moon as the Full Crow Moon, when the cawing of crows signaled the end of winter; or the Full Crust Moon, because the snow cover becomes crusted from thawing by day and freezing at night. The Full Sap Moon, marking the time of tapping maple trees, is another variation. To the settlers, it was also known as the Lenten Moon, and was considered to be the last full Moon of winter.

It is a time to plant mental seeds – thoughts of success and hope. This is also a time of purity and newness. It’s the time to bless the magical herbs and plants in your garden and to start preparing the soil for the seeds that you will plant. It’s also the time to mentally prepare yourself for new experiences, a new job, pregnancy, taking a trip, or bringing a new animal into your home.

Wave goodbye to Winter and hello to Spring’s New Beginnings!

No matter what you call it, are you ready for the newness that the March full moon brings?

Hello Spring!

IMG_6832SPRING!!!!

It’s that time of year to think about what seeds you will be planting and how you would like them to grow.

What in your life do you want to see coming to fruition this year? Have you sewn the seeds to get your endeavors growing?

Before you can plant the seeds you have to get the ground ready. Lots of work has to be done before the seeds ever go into the ground. From that point on you must actively tend your garden to ensure it ripens to your liking.

Some people like to through out seeds and just see if they take root and then they accept whatever sprouts. There isn’t anything wrong with that … you just have to be happy with whatever comes from it and if the birds get to those seeds before they have the chance to take root and grow .. well then you have to wait another year and try again.

But, if you want something particular in your life you must do the work to bring it into being. Prepare the ground, carefully choose your seeds and tend to them as they begin to grow. At the end , you’ll have a harvest that you can be proud of. All the work you put into it will show and the reward, great!

What seeds will you be planting this year?

Many Blessings & Happy Spring!

It’s Spring!

It’s Spring!

Blossoms, birds and bees
The green, green grass growing
Warm air whirling through the trees

It’s Spring!

Life sprouting right up from the ground
Daffodils, daisies and violets splashing color to and fro
While the robin fills the air with its sweet, melodic sound!

It’s Spring!

Revitalized from the ever glowing sun
Bare feet on the fresh mowed lawn
Blue skies and cloud watching … OH what fun!

It’s Spring!

A sunny day picnic for two
Baby ducks playing on the lake
A feeling all fresh and new!

It’s Spring!

A wonderland of life now buzzing through the air
The great awakening has begun
While I’m sunning on the deck without a worry or a care!

It’s Spring!

Many Blessings,

Let’s Get Inspired!!

It’s SPRING!!! What a beautiful time of the year … oh and today is a full moon… even better!

Inspiration is all around us with new life popping up everywhere you turn…. Take some time, get yourself out in the sunshine and enjoy a little bit of what Mother Nature has gifted us all with.

A tree will sit in waiting all winter long … waiting to let loose the fabulous foilage inside… now that’s what I call patience!

I’ve been watching the trees go from bare to green from my office window and it’s amazing how just within 1 day you can see the growth…

I am in awe  and inspired by Mother Nature.. so much beauty she brings… the birth of new life everywhere you look… if you can’t get inspired by that .. then I don’t know what else to tell you.

Do something creative today … in honor of Mother Nature and the Full Moon… you’ll be amazed at how good that can make you feel 🙂

I think I’ll go out in the garden and collect things to make a fairy fort….

Many Blessings,

Connecting

Have you stepped outside lately and truly connected with the Earth?

Have you walked barefoot in the green grass?

Slip off your shoes and feel the coolness of the grass below your feet… feel life growing         right there beneath you and all around you.

Take in the fresh spring air.

Sit quietly in the presence of new birth. The Earth is waking up from winter’s nap and life     is growing all around you.. have you stopped, if only for a moment to take it in?

It’s good for the mind, body and soul to take a break from the busy and chaotic day to day life we all live..

Take some time to slow your pace and take in the beauty that surrounds us … Spring is a magical time of year when all life begins anew.

Sleeping buds awaken to the warm spring air ..  Nests and dens are filled with new life and the Earth is painted in new shades of color.

Take some time today to connect.

Many Blessings,
