and so it begins…………….

Tonight we say our goodbyes to 2011 and we welcome in a new year… a new year of possibilities… a new year of second, third, fourth, etc chances… a new year of becoming your own personal best… a new year to set your own records… a new year to hope … a new year to love… a new year to dream… and a new year to make those dreams a reality.

I keep hearing this commercial on television and radio about this speaker who encourages our young to go after their dreams the quote the commercial ends with is ” If you do nothing to make your dreams happen… your dream dies with you”. If you take a moment to think about that statement… you can imagine how sad that must be. I also think about all the dreams in this world that were never realized and that must have died within the dreamer. The question of the day is: Will you be one of those dreamers who’s ideas and dreams die when you do or will you be one of those dreamers who goes after your dreams to make them happen.

If you have passion about something, why not at least try your best to make it happen. If it happens or not, at least you tried and maybe someone around you caught that same passion and maybe .. just maybe they will carry on with your vision after you are gone. You never know unless you go after it.

Tonight here are a few things you may want to try:

~ Light a green candle with the intent of creating your future in a positive and productive way.. imagine your dreams coming true and your reality just as you dreamed it to be. Allow this candle to fully burn out. Light it before the end of this year and let it burn over into the new one. (Green can be substituted with any color if you don’t have a green one handy. Green is the color of health, wealth, success and prosperity)

~ Do something productive to help manifest your dreams. (even if it’s simply writing down your vision)

~ Create a vision board of things you want to make happen this year and keep it visible so that you can be reminded daily of your dreams and of what you wish to manifest in the year to come.

~ Think postive thoughts…. sounds simple … but as you go through your day pay attention to your thoughts and when a negative thought pops into your head … push it away. Negative thoughts damper our productivity and progress and are useless to us or anyone else.

Be sure and do at least 1 thing each day to help manifest your dreams.. even if it’s something as simple as meditating on that dream, recognizing that dream, reminding yourself of the tasks you need to do to make that dream a reality. Every day doesn’t have to be filled with huge tasks… but every day does need to be filled with a type of energy that someday will help you realize your dreams.

2012 or Bust!

Some say the end is near while others will tell you that 2012 is a year of dramatic changes not only for the Earth but for everyone living upon it.

I ask that you forget what you have read and what you have heard and let go of those ideas of others. Make 2012 YOUR year. Allow 2012 and the all the years after be what YOU want them to be. Forget New Year resolutions and make LIFE RESOLUTIONS! I’ve never been one fond of doing what others do or what others think I should do. I have always been one to follow my own set of rules. Life is what we make it and I plan on making it the best that I possibly can. I am sure hard times will come but they will also pass as they have in the years gone by.

We all have life sitting there right in front of us waiting for us to take it into our own hands and do with it what we wish. Sure there are unexpected things that come up.. thats all a part of life.. it’s what makes it interesting .. it keeps us awake and aware.

If your goal this year is to find love… then find that love within yourself first.

If you wish to shed some weight… rid yourself of what stress you can and watch as the weight follows suit. (exercise and eating right must follow as well)

Exercise you mind, body and spirit daily.

Allow goodness to come into your life by giving it frequently.

Go after your dreams and believe in yourself.

Be smart in your decisions but don’t let fear guide you.

Make no excuses. Plan and then DO!

Life is there waiting …

You don’t want to come to the end of your days thinking of all the lost opportunities and “what ifs” … you want to look back and say “At least I gave it a go!” ” I tried” “I did” “I dreamed” ” I was true to ME”

The life of the raven

Inspired by the world around us.. the seen and unseen.. the known and unknown. I fall in love with the seasons and I am in awe of the magic that flows upon each current of wind. Watching the world from my perch high above the ground… I have seen it all… Pain, love, torture, despair, hope, freedom, hatred and kindness. From my walk I have witnessed it all … from my flight I have survived it all .. and from my heart I have healed from it all.

Winter Solstice – The Long Night’s Journey

This is a vision I had a couple of years ago on the night of the winter solstice… I share with you now my moment.

My whole life has been like the hunt like the wolf, searching for food. The food that we hunt is different only in the hunger that we each sought to feed. In my own search I have sought out various foods to feed the many different hungers of my soul… a hunger for wisdom, of learning, of growth, of love, of creativity, a hunger for spiritual fulfillment and the list goes on.

This the longest night of the year I would like to share with you my spiritual journey. In this journey I was accompanied by my long time spiritual companion, the white wolf.

The day began much colder than any other before it, the community was buzzing with activities, as everyone was preparing for the longest of the cold winter nights.

The elders gathered and I was stripped of all that I wear and bathed in a ritual bath to cleanse away all that was unneeded. I was induced into a restful, relaxed state by way of some sort of herbal drink and then wrapped in the pelt of a white wolf and placed in a shelter with a roaring fire at it’s center.

I lay next to the fire wrapped in this wonderous fur. I give thanks to the wolf that gave his life for the sake of my warmth this long and cold winter night. I struggle to keep my eyes open, the herbal concoction has set in and my body falls into a state of complete rest.

The fire before me glows and my eyes grow so heavy I can no longer keep them open.

I hear not a sound other than the beat of my own heart accompanied by that of my spirited protector, the great white wolf. Not a sound is heard, not the crackle of the fire, not the sounds of the night, no sound from any other soul. The night, silent and still.

Now that night has fallen, there is no scurrying about with chores and busy work, there is no worry or fright, there is no concern or sorrow.. there is only one thing and that thing is rest. Curled up by the fire in this fine coat of fur, I close my eyes and finally I rest.

Completely at ease, knowing I am watched over, I am filled with warmth and love and when I close my eyes, the dreams begin.

Visions of many, they come and they go ..

Secrets of old revealed…

Healing and growth show themselves…

The light from above now glowing from my center.. it fills me.

This night, the longest of the year…. Shall be forever cherished and never feared.

This was my long night’s journey … and the message I’d like to pass on is this:

There is much time in this life to be busy .. to gather.. to hunt ..

to prepare for many things.. you must remember that to be at your best and to keep your strengths at their height.. you must take time to rest .. completely let go and allow yourself time to rejuvenate….

REST.

Making it a Positive New Year

With the New Year getting closer I thought today I would speak about making changes and ridding ourselves of those things no longer needed.

Here are a few ideas that may help you start the New Year on the right foot:

Clean out the closets / Clean house – Throw out or donate all the “things” that fill your house with clutter … “things” don’t bring us happiness and a clean house encourages clear thoughts and at the end of the day when you walk in the door from a long day at work your
spirits will be lifted without having to worry about clearing out or cleaning house.

Make a list and check it twice! – Make two lists … one will be of
all those things you no longer need in your life and things you don’t
want to see coming into your life for the coming year – the other list
will be of what you would like to keep in your life and things you
would like to see come into your life for the year ahead. (remember
to be specific on both lists) When you are done with your lists..
take the no longer needed list and burn it … watch it as it burns
away and imagine all those things burning out of your life and staying
far away from you …. The Keep list should be placed somewhere for
safe keeping …. from time to time take it out and look it over
again … add things to it if you want … but it is a reminder of those
things you want to stay in your life or those things you want to
manifest during the year.

Clear the way – Take a day to clean all your windows and doorways …
its amazing the kind of stuff that can build up around these two areas
and how we really don’t pay much attention to the places we walk in
and out of each day … Opening all the windows will allow your home
to breathe and clear the air .. let in some of that fresh air from
outside …. We go in and out of our doors and as we do we bring stuff
in and take stuff out with us .. even if we have nothing in our
hands… cleaning those doorways will also clean away the energy …
more important is that negative energy that may have built up over the
year … as you clean think of good thoughts and put some postive
energy and happiness into your doorways so that coming or going you
take with you a bit of the postive energy and happiness.

Get Cooking! – On the New Year cook up a good hearty meal charged with
postive energy, health and prosperity for the year ahead … take
some time to enjoy your meal… think about being healthy, happy and
prosperous for the entire year ahead and then ……. RELAX! Take a
bit of time to not rush around.. not to worry and not to busy
yourself.. just take a moment to…. well… be in the moment.

Amethyst Dreams

Last night as I began to fall to sleep .. these words came to mind.

Amethyst Dreams

As the darkness falls this cold December night
The moon grows full with it’s brilliance ever so bright.

Amethyst dreams begin rolling through my head
As I find comfort in the warmth of my bed.

Crystalline fragments bathed in a purple hue
Conjuring dreams of something new.

Healing the soul by way of my dreams, one by one
Keeping my mind sober and wise, til the night is done.

Focused on tonight’s visions as the moonlight beams
I am empowered by these amethyst dreams.

I travel across spiritual realms of many throughout the night
And balance upon sparkling beams of amethyst light.

Where will these lucid dreams bathed in purple take me next?
Only Spirit knows, but I’m not worried nor vexed.

Inner peace has filled my mind, body and soul
I’m ready for where ever these visions wish me to go.

Amethyst dreams guiding us through the long, cold, wintery night
Lending us protection and power til the dark becomes new light.

Hidden Inside Us

You just never know when inspiration will speak to us. I could not turn out my light tonight without writing about this rainbow that from out of nowhere appeared and lit up my creative soul.

It is midnight and I have to be up at 5am … I am crawling into bed and as I reach over to turn out the light on my bedside table I notice inside one of the crystals lying there and this beautiful little rainbow hidden inside. I began to think about how that tiny little rainbow inside my crystal is like each of us. We all have that rainbow inside us. Layers of color that decorate our souls. Light from within that tells a story of who we are, who we have been and who we will become. That rainbow carries with it all the stories of where we’ve been and those stories yet to be told.

Think about this little rainbow when you meet others on your journey each day. Think about how we are not just what you see on the outside. We all have so much more to us. Layers upon layers of color inside and a light that is as beautiful as we allow it to be.

Also I want you to think about yourself and the rainbow in the crystal…. you are also equally as beautiful. You contain all those many layers of color and light as well. Let your light and those colors shine. Allow others to view the wonders of your soul and don’t be afraid to share your light.

By sharing our light, we encourage others to shine and share theirs as well.. together we can create the rainbow this world needs to improve and become a better, more caring and loving place.

An Angel Just For You

An Angel Just For You

I have spent my entire weekend working on these little stained glass angel ornaments to give to friends and family this year for Christmas. As I was standing for hours at my work bench, my back aching with pain, my fingers all cut up and burn marks every few minutes from the hot solder… I began to think about the people I was making the ornaments for.

I wondered who would appreciate this small token of a gift that I was creating and then those who I knew in fact would not really appreciate all the time, care, effort and pain that went into this years gift. Now that, that is said…. let me clear something up. I make gifts because it’s what I love to do. I don’t expect anything in return and it’s not about them knowing how much time and effort went into the gift. But having said that.. I have to say that this is exactly why I choose to make gifts instead of buying gifts. Let me explain.

In my mind… taking the time to dream up a new creation, the planning of that creation, then the physical act of creating and the long hours and even the pain that may come along with it … are all the reasons why I do it. If you are one of the few that receive a hand made gift from me.. then you know that I care about you enough to go through all of the above.

Let me tell you… there were many times this weekend that I wanted to just quit. I wanted to put the glass away and do something less painful (oh my poor cut up and burnt hands!). I have tons of other crafty ideas that I could do much quicker and with a whole lot more ease. But this years gift is suppose to be angels.. I dreamed it and gosh darn it .. I’m gonna make it happen! Yeah so the next time I get a bright idea like this… someone please stop me!

Then there is the fun and excitment that comes along with making gifts for others. As I was making these angels today I couldn’t help but wonder which of my friends or family members would get one of the angels whos halo was a tad bit bent or crooked.. I giggled to myself as I wandered through my list.. thinking of who was going to get one of those SPECIAL angels. I imagined the happiness that would come to some that would open their gift and fall in love with their own personal angel. I thought about the smiles and the hugs that would follow and so I endured the urge to sit down and stop. I worked through the pain running up and down my back.. a shrugged off the many burns that followed and I finished the angels with pride and happiness.

If you find yourself this year with one of my angels… know that you are loved and know that I thought you were well worth the effort!

If you do not find yourself with one of my angels.. know that most likely I ran out of time, glass, or even skin on my fingers..LOL. I am one person and I can only do so much. I would love to be able to make every person I know a special gift.. but hey.. I’m not Santa Claus ya know! I am me and I do the best that I can.

Happy Christmas everyone.. and if you can’t make something yourself for your friends and family .. please think about purchasing gifts from someone that does. Handmade gifts are filled with love and care.

My Hawk Encounter

This afternoon while taking some paper out to the recycle bin at work, I turned to go back inside and saw something move from the corner of my eye. I turned to see what the movement was about and there was this gorgeous hawk just standing there in the parking lot at the back of someone’s car.

You know me.. I quickly dashed inside, grabbed the office camera and ran down the hallway as fast as I could. I ran into the office nearest where it was standing and started snapping pics. It never once moved so I thought… ok I’m heading out to the parking lot!

I eased the door open quietly, made my way around the building as quietly and slowly as possible and continued taking pics. Still the hawk never moved, so I inched out into the parking lot taking pics continuously until I was about 10 feet away. I knelt down and it flew up into a nearby tree.

I’m not one to give up easily so I made my way over as close to the tree as possible and I was still allowed to get about 15 feet from the tree before this beauty flew off and away.

What an amazing moment! I am honored to have been allowed so close and still in a bit of disbelief that I was as close as I was!
