moon magic

October Full Moon

bloodmoonThe October full moon is known as the Blood Moon and also the Falling Leaf or Hunter’s Moon. It is a Moon of new goals, protection, resolution, and spirituality. The night of the Blood Moon is a great time for divination of any kind. At this time of the year, all of nature is making ready for the winter. Animals that hibernate are gathering the last scraps of food. Birds are heading south. In human societies, this used to be the time when we turned from agriculture to the hunt as our means of sustenance. This is the time to reflect on what you did during the year and to evaluate your accomplishments.

Don’t forget to step outside and soak up a bit of that full moon magic tonight. Also now is a great time to cleanse and charge your crystals with that full moon energy.. place them outside or in your windows so that they can capture that moon magic.

Many blessings,

May Full Moon

nearly full moonThe Full Moon in the month of May is known as The Hare Moon, the Flower or Planting Moon. It’s a time of health, love, romance, and wisdom. This is a great time to plant the seeds that you have empowered. As the seeds begin to grow, the energy you have filled them with will start to manifest in your life. It’s also a great time to rekindle the romantic spark and passion in a relationship. If you’ve been working magic to help your career, now will probably be the time to decide which of your job offers to accept.

And as usual.. don’t forget to place all your sacred tools, crystals and stones out so that they may soak up some of that full moon magic!

I also want to take a moment to talk about personal talisman:

A talisman for those of you who don’t know, is an object which is believed to contain certain magical properties which would provide good luck for the possessor and possibly offer protection from evil or harm.

Many wear a particular charm, pendant or other piece of talisman… be sure to allow it to recharge from time to time. Take it off, lay it out in the sun or moonlight for a few hours or so, lay it on some Earth and or cleanse it with smudge, salt or water. Allow your talisman to communicate with you how best to cleanse it. Just like you .. it needs a time to rest, relax and recharge.

April Full Moon

nearly full moonThis is a good time to work on magic related to new beginnings.

The April Full Moon is known as the Seed Moon, Egg, Grass, or Wind Moon. It signals a time of fertility, growth, and wisdom. This is the time to sow the seeds of Magic. If you are planting a magical garden, you want to get out there now and put things into the Earth. This is the time to move from the planning phase into action. If you want to get pregnant, this is a great time to go for it. Fertility is in the air. It’s also a great time to empower some seeds to both help them grow and to do Earth magic.

It’s the time to stop planning, and start doing. Take all those ideas you’ve had brewing for the past couple of months, and make them come to fruition.

Don’t forget to set out your crystals and special tools so that they can absorb some of that full moon magic.

Many Blessings,

March Full Moon

nearly full moonThe March Full Moon is known by many names: The Chaste Moon,  the Seed or Worm Moon, the Crow Moon, Full Crust Moon, The Full Sap Moon or the Lenten Moon.

As the temperature begins to warm and the ground begins to thaw, earthworm casts appear, heralding the return of the robins. The more northern tribes knew this Moon as the Full Crow Moon, when the cawing of crows signaled the end of winter; or the Full Crust Moon, because the snow cover becomes crusted from thawing by day and freezing at night. The Full Sap Moon, marking the time of tapping maple trees, is another variation. To the settlers, it was also known as the Lenten Moon, and was considered to be the last full Moon of winter.

It is a time to plant mental seeds – thoughts of success and hope. This is also a time of purity and newness. It’s the time to bless the magical herbs and plants in your garden and to start preparing the soil for the seeds that you will plant. It’s also the time to mentally prepare yourself for new experiences, a new job, pregnancy, taking a trip, or bringing a new animal into your home.

Wave goodbye to Winter and hello to Spring’s New Beginnings!

No matter what you call it, are you ready for the newness that the March full moon brings?

Many Blessings,

February Full Moon

nearly full moonFebruary’s Full Moon is known as the Storm Moon, the Death Moon or Quickening Moon.

This is a time for fertility and strength. For most people in the Northern Hemisphere, February is a time of storms and bleak, short days. In the olden days, it was a time of true hardship.

This is a good time to concentrate on things to help you face life’s challenges. You could concentrate on the idea of weathering the storm and giving yourself the extra stamina to succeed. This is also a time of cleansing both internally and externally. As such, it’s a great time to get rid of physical things you don’t need and any mental or emotional baggage you might be hauling around with you, too.

Declutter your life and declutter your mind!
It’s time to make room for new things to bloom within ourselves as well as within our lives.

Many Blessings,

November Full Moon

The November Full Moon is the Snow Moon also known as the Beaver, Mourning or Tree Moon … depending on where you are from.

Remind yourself that although winter is coming, it will not last forever. Do what you can to reduce your stress and to strengthen your bonds with family and friends. Back before the advent of grocery stores and central heating, people really counted on those bonds, which could be the difference between making it through the winter or perishing. So, know who is really there for you, and count your blessings.

The moon offers us a lot of energy and when it is full it offers that much more. Use it wisely and responsibly. Be clear in your thoughts and actions.

Many Blessings,

Daily Insight: Powers of the Moon

Today I pull the Moon card from the Vision Quest Deck and how fitting is it that at the end of this week we have a Blue Moon!! Yep, that’s right a Blue Moon! No, the moon won’t really be blue, as in the color blue… a Blue Moon is when we have 2 full moons in 1 month.. the Blue Moon is the second full moon of that month. They don’t happen very often, so that’s why the phrase “once in a blue moon”.

Understanding the moon cycles and the effects they have on us can help in many ways. Paying attention to when the moon is full or new is a start. You will notice how people change during these times. It’s not just the full moon that effects us… all phases of the moon have different effects on every person. When you keep track of the phases and watch the people around you.. you will begin to see how indeed the phases do take their toll.

Understanding how the phases effect you are even better. If you tend to become more emotional during a specific phase, you can then alter your thoughts and emotions a little bit better knowing that part of what you are feeling has more to do with the moon phase than anything else going on at that moment. Same goes if you tend to get happier, angrier, quieter or whatever the mood. Knowing why can help you far more than one might think. It allows you to step away from your emotions and see more clearly what’s really going and why you feel the way you feel so intensely.

As the moon cycles around the Earth and moves closer an further away, we know that the ocean is effected and the ocean is what?? WATER! What are we made up of??? Approximately 60% of water and our brain consists of 70% water.. and we wonder how on Earth the moon effects us so drastically… LOL

There is magic to be found in all things… the Moon, just another giant sphere of Magic!

Take the time to understand it, get to know it and then go with the flow of it!

Many Blessings,

June’s Full Moon

Happy Full Moon to everyone!!

Be sure and take a few minutes at least to step out in the moonlight and absorb some of it’s magical energies. Pay attention to your dreams during the full moon as well.. there are answers to your questions there.

June’s Full Moon is known as The Lover’s Moon also known as the Strawberry or Rose Moon, the Lover’s Moon brings with it energy for love, marriage, and success. Is it any wonder that in some traditions this Moon is called the Honey Moon? This is a time to nurture your garden and marvel at its beauty and abundance. If you have taken that new job, now is the time to make sure you have everything running smoothly. And you might want to keep your eyes open to see how you can move into a more desirable position.

Many Blessings,
Raventalker

January Full Moon – Wolf Moon

The Wolf Moon, also known as the Cold, Snow, or Winter Moon, is a time of protection and strength. While it is the first full Moon of the year, in terms of nature it occurs in the middle of the cold winter season, a season of death and desolation when the trees and the land is bare. In these respects, the Wolf Moon can be seen as a time of both beginnings and endings. It’s time to start thinking of what you want to plant and plan for the spring.

Now is the time to get all your planning done.. and ready everything you will need to put your furure plans in action.

Don’t forget to step outside and soak up a bit of that full moon magic tonight. Also now is a great time to cleanse and charge your crystals with that full moon energy.. place them outside or in your windows so that they can capture that moon magic.

Many blessings,
Raventalker

July Full Moon

IMG_6779The July Full Moon  – The Mead Moon, also known as the Blessings, Lightning, or Thunder Moon, it’s a time of enchantment, health, rebirth, success, and strength. This is the time of the first harvests, when you begin to enjoy the fruits of your labors.

If nothing else .. at least  .. stand in the light of the moon and allow its energy to fill you.

Send your wishes with the moons energy and light and allow the Creator to help you manifest these things in the coming year.

That’s right I said HELP you manifest them.. not manifest them “FOR YOU” … if you want something,  you need to take part in making it a reality … making it happen.. so get off your bum and get to work in making those dreams come true.

Keep a positive thought and outlook .. continue throughout the year adding positive energies to the things you want most and keep love in your heart.

Don’t forget,  now is a great time to cleanse and charge your crystals and sacred tools with that full moon energy… place them outside or in your windows so that they can capture that moon magic.

Many Blessings,

When the Moon was New

>On the night when the moon was new
I sent out love and blessings just for you

Grab the sweetgrass, the sage and the tobacco
I bet the neighbors think I’m wacko!

I’ve got some words I need to say
To send these blessings on their way

To the grandmothers and grandfathers of all the nations
To all my relations

May the sacred winds carry my words so that you may hear
Bless my friends, family and all those I hold dear

Carry away their fears, their worries and their pain
Fill them with love and light so they may shine even through the hardest of rain

Bless them with health, love and prosperity
Let’s not forget to give them vision with true clarity

Let’s keep their bad weather at bay
And give them more bright and sunny days

Allow their songs to be heard out loud
May they stand tall and proud

May they find balance in all things
Hear these words this raven sings

With love and honor I sing to you
Of blessings, love, hope and dreams coming true.

Many Blessings,
Raventalker

Beneath the October Moon

IMG_6779

Beneath the October Moon.. what’s that I see
Strange and exciting things have come to be

Once unseen, now visible to the eye
Witches, goblins and spirits.. Oh My!

What are they doing, why are they there
Have they come to cause a fright… a great big scare!

Up on their broomsticks and soaring through the sky
The year is now turning and the leaves are beginning to die.

Red, yellow, brown and gold
The days grow short as the nights grow cold

Be thankful now for the harvest reaped
Who’s that stepping through the veil to take a peek?

Those once here but now passed away
Have come over to say hello as they go on their way

Candles are lit for a safe passage through
Don’t worry , only silly ghosts say BOO!

From here to the other side they shall pass
The year has flown by way too fast

Hug the ones you love and hold them tight
Keep them in your prayers and thoughts each and every night

Life is short, you never know when it may end
Many blessings for peace and love I now send.

From my heart these words now pass from me to you
May Blessings fall upon you and all your wishes and dreams come true!

Magical Moon

IMG_6779

A little something I jotted down last night before going to bed…

Magical Moon

Magical Moon with a light so bright
Watch over us all and protect us through the night

When you’re large and full of grace
Even when we can barely see your face

We know you are always there
Your magic fills the air

Waning and waxing as the nights come and go
Feeling that mystic tug and tow

Abundance and blessings you give without take
Please accept these prayers we now make

Our words we send to thee with love
We cast them to you and the heavens above

Magical Moon in the night
Thank you for the dreams, the visions, the second sight

A blessing at the end of each day
You light the darkness in a loving and magical way

Carrying with you the secrets from ancient times gone by
Your presence is felt beneath the starry night sky

Magical Moon thank you for your love, thank you for your light
Thank you for watching over us every single night.

Many Blessings,
Raventalker
