Finding Your Own Spiritual Truth

Spirit urges me to talk about our individual paths and the spiritual truth that is within each of us. I talk about spirit guides, animal totems and spirits as well as past life experiences. TRUST your own truth when it comes to these matters…. seeking out others to direction and guidance is great but when it comes down to what calls, resonates and speaks to you… TRUST your own knowing.

The Towhee Medicine

This morning I was visited by an Eastern Towhee.. the first time I’ve seen this fellow at my feeder. I had to search the bird index to figure out what he was. Here’s some info I found on him and his medicine:

Towhee represents a time of utmost persistence and confidence. She teaches ways to uncover what is hidden. She shows the value of activity and progressing forward, even if it means taking steps backward. She shows how to maneuver in a way to keep going. Don’t give up. When Towhee appears there may something else you are missing and will show how to go over things with a new perspective. She uses resourcefulness and ingenuity to aid in revealing what is necessary. Is it time to voice your opinion? She shows the power in keeping feet on the ground and balancing energy and time that is spent on activities. Towhee’s medicine includes being quiet,

secretive and subdued when needed as well as being forthright, loud and defensive when it is appropriate. She shows how to balance such passive/aggressive properties. The time period for Towhee’s lesson span about 2 weeks. Be aware of situations where you can implement her wisdom for she will present you with the best course of action.

The House Sparrow

Here’s another little stinker I’ve been playing tag with this morning… he has been to my window feeder more time than I can count and so I’ve been trying to capture a photo of him for nearly 3 hours before finally succeeding! Whew … ok now this is the second bird this morning both with a message of singing our song… I reckon Spirit might be trying to me something this time around :-)

Here’s some info on this totem I found at linsdomain.com

The sparrow is one of the most common birds around, yet it has flourished when other species have failed.

It reflects self-worth. If a Sparrow totem has entered your life, ask yourself if you know your own self-worth. The sparrow will show you that even a common little bird can triumph.

The song sparrow reflects the chakra energy awakening from the heart and throat. It reminds us to sing out our own song of dignity and self-worth.

During the Middle Ages, the Sparrow was the symbol of peasants and the lower classes.

In Ancient Britain, the Sparrow was the symbol of friendly household spirits.

To the Greeks, it was the pet of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love.

Good Morning Mr. Bluebird!

It’s a beautiful sunny Sunday morning and I get a greeting from my dear friend the Bluebird! As soon as I saw him fly across the backyard I ran for my camera hoping he would sit still long enough for a photo or two!

Here’s a bit of info on the bluebird from linsdomian.com:

Bluebird is a reminder that you are born to happiness and fulfillment, but you can sometimes get so wrapped up in everyday things, that happiness seems rare. Bluebird reminds you to take time to enjoy yourself.

Bluebird is associated with the throat chakra and creative expression.

Bluebird is symbolic of the need to work hard and play hard.
Be careful of shouldering too much responsibility.

Bluebirds, and their totem people, are gentle and unaggressive.
They do not push or bully, but they are very scrappy if threatened.

A Bluebird person should have their front door facing south, the door for awakening their inner child.

My Hawk Encounter

This afternoon while taking some paper out to the recycle bin at work, I turned to go back inside and saw something move from the corner of my eye. I turned to see what the movement was about and there was this gorgeous hawk just standing there in the parking lot at the back of someone’s car.

You know me.. I quickly dashed inside, grabbed the office camera and ran down the hallway as fast as I could. I ran into the office nearest where it was standing and started snapping pics. It never once moved so I thought… ok I’m heading out to the parking lot!

I eased the door open quietly, made my way around the building as quietly and slowly as possible and continued taking pics. Still the hawk never moved, so I inched out into the parking lot taking pics continuously until I was about 10 feet away. I knelt down and it flew up into a nearby tree.

I’m not one to give up easily so I made my way over as close to the tree as possible and I was still allowed to get about 15 feet from the tree before this beauty flew off and away.

What an amazing moment! I am honored to have been allowed so close and still in a bit of disbelief that I was as close as I was!

Here are some pics and a bit of info on the hawk totem:

Hawk is the messenger, the protector and the visionaries of the Air.
It holds the key to higher levels of consciousness.
This totem awakens vision and inspires a creative life purpose.

A Hawk totem is filled with responsibility
because Hawk people seek the overall view.
They are aware of omens and spirit messages.

A Red-Tailed Hawk Totem is special.
It has direct ties to the Kundalini, the seat of primal life force.
It is associated with the base chakra .
If you have this Totem, you will be aware of and work towards fulfilling your soul’s purpose.
It reflects a greater intensity of energy within your life:
physical, emotional, mental and spiritual forces will all be strong within you.
The Red-Tail Hawk is a permanent totem — it will always be with you.

Learning from Nature – The Birds

One of my favorite things to do is to sit out in nature and take in the beauty that surrounds us. Not only is it relaxing and beautiful.. there are many things we can learn from observation. Take a moment to enjoy this video slide show of photos I’ve taken of the birds in my very own back yard.  Below is a bit of information about some of our bird friends.

Information below comes from linsdomain.com

The Hummingbird

Hummingbird a symbol for accomplishing that which seems impossible.
It can teach you how to find the miracle of joyful living in your own life.

Hummingbird medicine is herbal; it shows us how to use flowers for healing.

If you have a Blue Jay totem, you must learn to use your personal power properly. Be careful not to become a bully.

If Blue Jay is your totem, you may have tremendous abilities and potential, but you must learn not to be scattered and neglect to develop your abilities to their fullest. Blue Jay people can become dabblers – a little bit of knowledge about many things but master of none. Develop your gifts and you will have unlimited potential.

The Finch
A Finch totem increases the opportunities to experience a variety of activities.
Everything is amplified.
There is a distinct possible of mingling with a wide variety of people and environments. Life will become more active after a Finch totem has arrived in your life.

The Chickadee
Chickadee is associated with the thinking process, higher mind and higher perceptions.
It is also associated with mystery and the feminine.
Chickadee can help you uncovering the mysteries of the mind.
With a Chickadee totem, you can perceive more clearly in the dark and understand higher truths.

For the Cherokee, Chickadee is the bird of truth.

The Robin
A Robin totem will stimulate new growth in all areas of your life.
Believe in yourself as you move forward.
Obstacles will fall by the wayside if you do and confrontations will be for show only.
This totem gives you the ability to will new growth into your life.
Meditate on Robin and the correct path will be revealed to you.

The Woodpecker
When a Woodpecker totem enters your life, it indicates that the foundation is there and it is safe to follow through. It will stimulate new rhythms. It reflects a wakening of new mental faculties.

You may be so wrapped up in mental and spiritual activities that you’ve neglected the physical.

The Tiger

>

In honor of the Tiger that came to me in a ceremonial vision last night:

Passion, Power, Devotion

The Tiger is the symbol of darkness
and the new Moon.

When a Tiger totem enters your life,
expect new adventures.
It will awaken new passion and power.

Tiger people do their best work at night.
They are very sensual and passion people and devoted parents.
Your best work will be done at night.
Tigers are associated with water and have all the properties of the element of Water –
healing, power through gentle flow, feminine energies.

In China, there are 5 mystic tigers:
The red tiger is south, summer and fire,
the black tiger is the symbol of north, winter and water,
the blue tiger is east, spring and vegetation,
the white tiger is west, autumn and all metals,
the yellow tiger is ruler of the Earth and its energies.
