The Towhee Medicine

This morning I was visited by an Eastern Towhee.. the first time I’ve seen this fellow at my feeder. I had to search the bird index to figure out what he was. Here’s some info I found on him and his medicine:

Towhee represents a time of utmost persistence and confidence. She teaches ways to uncover what is hidden. She shows the value of activity and progressing forward, even if it means taking steps backward. She shows how to maneuver in a way to keep going. Don’t give up. When Towhee appears there may something else you are missing and will show how to go over things with a new perspective. She uses resourcefulness and ingenuity to aid in revealing what is necessary. Is it time to voice your opinion? She shows the power in keeping feet on the ground and balancing energy and time that is spent on activities. Towhee’s medicine includes being quiet,

secretive and subdued when needed as well as being forthright, loud and defensive when it is appropriate. She shows how to balance such passive/aggressive properties. The time period for Towhee’s lesson span about 2 weeks. Be aware of situations where you can implement her wisdom for she will present you with the best course of action.

Many Blessings,

  1. An Eastern Tohee has been persistantly trying to fly into the window over my husband’s desk. Thank you for this post!

  2. I have been looking on and off for a description of Towhee wisdom since around 1995. The first time I asked someone they told me I should observe the wisdom myself. It seemed clear to me that towhee is very grounded. That is as far as I got. I have observed a number of birds, like the downy woodpecker for example illustrate persistence. I like your idea of “confidence” and even though I have not noticed that, I will try to see it as I watch and listen to them. I never noticed “secretive” either but I find it very intriguing. Thinking of Towhee as secretive has helped me reflect on the fact that they are around me in open and hidden places as well. Thank you so much for this post!

  4. Just had a little guy stun himself on my window this morning. He recovered quite nicely on my deck. So very interesting to watch, took about ten minutes. His first movement was a very, very slow clockwise rotation of his head. Like stop time. So very interesting, both he and your post. Thanks!

  5. I found an injured Towhee this morning. I used a clean cloth and picked it up and sat with it outside and sang to it and it seemed to respond to me very well. It was cold out so I went into the house and continued to comfort and sing to the little towhee I did pet the back of its head and neck while it nestled in my warm fluffy lap. (yes fluffy long sweater on) I went back outside and held the bird up to try to fly and after a few moments it did. It flew up into the trees and my heart is full. I`m very thankful this little bird recovered and is going to enjoy this beautiful day.

a couple days ago I found a Hawk lying dead in my driveway.. since then I`ve been wondering what the meaning is .. now a towhee experience this morning. I`m really searching for answers for the message. Thoughts on this please ❤

  6. I have a very wooded yard and have been enjoying the bird songs lately. Last night I thought how nice it would be if I could identify this one “trilling” bird I have been hearing. I never thought I would be able to see it in the trees though. This morning I decided to have my coffee outside – something I rarely, rarely do. In just a moment the trilling bird sat on a bare branch, close enough for me to see, and sang the song! I listened for a while, noted it’s colors and then came inside to find out who this is. I came inside to a room on the opposite side of my home to look it up. As I read this post, I heard the song outside of THIS window – just once! I’m floored, but this is all telling me something I need to hear. Thank you, thank you for your post. This is truly new to me – this wisdom, this website, this experience.

  7. Thank you so much! I found a feather from a towhee recently and the messages you have channeled here are spot on. Comforting to have this confirmation and affirming what I have been feeling.
    Hope you are thriving
    Peace

  8. thank you! This was the only medicine information I could find. Yesterday, here in the Olympic forest, a male towhee came into the fornt yard to perch on a post while I was standing there. Such a beautiful call! And a young one too, nibbling on the ground. The adult preened while theadolescent dug in the dirt for insects. – Then I went to a samctuary retreat that day and the bed that I used had a pillow with two birds embroidered – to my surpise! They were spotted towhee! So I looked up the medicine…. Love your wisdom on their messages. Thank you!
